Message from the Principal
Greetings STORM Families,
It’s been a great start to the school year! Our kids were amazing at our first day assembly, learning about the upcoming year and being challenged to connect with each other. We explained that our school motto is “Everybody’s somebody at Ridgeline!” This means that all students are valued and respected for who they are. It means we treat everyone with dignity as we support their needs and as we challenge them to be their best selves.
Students learned school wide expectations in the first week of school, and they learned how to be organized in each of their classes. Ridgeline is an AVID school, which means we use organization and instructional strategies to help prepare all students for a post-high school plan. This week, they learned about STORM time on Wednesdays, which is a time for getting help, making up assignments, or re-taking assessments. Teachers and staff are working hard to help students get off to a successful start in all classes. Parents, please check grades at least every two weeks to see updates and progress to your student’s learning and performance in Qmaltive.
Parents should also be aware of the following upcoming events:
Our first Coffee with the Principal is tomorrow morning (Friday, September 13, 2024) 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in room 604 in the blue hallway.
On September 20, 2024, all students will participate in an all-school campus evacuation drill to St. Columban Church (our emergency rally point) and back to Ridgeline during the first hour and half of school. The Yelm Police Department will assist to ensure student safety as we walk to the rally point and back. If your student has an injury or condition that will not allow them to walk the mile-long journey, please communicate that to your child’s Homeroom teacher.
On September 27, we have our Fall Fundraiser and Run/Walk Event taking place. We hope that all parents will support this event with a donation. Students will bring home the fundraiser forms that describe how to make a donation and all the fun events at the Run/Walk. Students will get to run or walk around the track, listen to Mr. Healy playing DJ, and then they get to dance on the field to the “Ice Cream and Cake” song and “The Cupid Shuffle.”
On October 16, we have a Health, Safety, and Anti-Bullying assembly for each grade level to explain the differences between responding to conflict versus responding to bullying and harassment. We will define bullying and harassment for students and talk about what those look like. Assistant Principal, Mr. Quichocho, and our SRO, Officer Stephan, will talk to students about how to report bullying and harassment.
We are so happy to be back at school with students, and we look forward to an amazing 2024-2025 school year! Please let me know if you have questions, concerns, and ideas for making this the best year ever for your student and for your family. You can email me directly at: craig_curry@ycs.wednet.edu.
Sincerely,
Craig Curry
RMS Principal

Attendance is important!!
Regular attendance at school helps your child get the most out of middle school. We appreciate your support in ensuring that your child attends school on a regular basis. There is no substitute for being in class—students need to be present to hear teachers explain concepts, to participate in group projects and class discussions, and to ask questions.
Set a reasonable bedtime and make sure electronic devices are put away so there is no temptation to stay awake to read messages or play games. It will be easier to get up on time if he/she has a good night’s sleep every night.
As much as possible, please schedule doctor and dentist appointments before or after school.
Of course, if your child is ill, please keep him/her home to help them recover and to help minimize the spread of covid, flu and other viruses. Prevention messages are the same: wash hands frequently, avoid ill individuals, cover coughs and sneezes and stay home when ill.
If your student is going to be tardy or absent, please remember to call the Ridgeline Attendance Line at 360-458-1100, or email Mrs. Whited, RMS Registrar at rms_attendance@ycs.wednet.edu.
Health Room Info…
Please remember the following for medication at school:
All medication taken at school requires a signed doctor’s order and must also be signed by the parent. This includes over-the-counter medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, cough drops, etc. Forms are available in the office and most doctor’s offices have them as well. Parents or guardians my come in to the nurse’s office and personally give medicine to the student if necessary.
If you have any questions, feel free to call the health room at 360-458-1100.

Just a few food service reminders as we start the year.
