In an effort to expand our PBIS initiative, the NMS PBIS committee is shifting from “Lunch Legends” to “PAWsitive Rewards” in order to reward positive behaviors across settings, not just in the cafeteria.
Teachers, administrators, and other school staff will be able to identify students who exhibit positive behaviors using a google form. Monthly, Mrs. Enos will email parents and students the PAWsitive Reward “ticket,” generated by the Google Form to reinforce the positive behavior. In addition, when teachers report the students’ names in the google form, they will be automatically entered into the drawing for PAWsitive rewards prizes. Teachers can give students a PAWsitive reward for meeting classroom, hallway, or cafeteria behavior expectations, as indicated by the behavior matrices for each setting. When teachers fill out the form, they should refer to the language used in the behavior matrices.
Like Lunch Legends, the PAWsitive Rewards Initiative will work like a raffle. Each week, 2 students from each grade level will be randomly selected for a small prize. Their names will be announced over the loudspeaker (like Tiger Stripe recipients are), and they will have the opportunity to select a small prize from the prize bucket. Once a month, students who have received PAWsitive Rewards will be entered into a raffle for a larger prize, provided by the NMS PTA.
U Rock Recipients
Scott Redpath for his hard work on the Builder's Club Halloween Dance.
Nichole Flounders for her dedication to special education and meeting the needs of her students.
