MHS Multicultural Fair 3/12
Join us for the 1st Annual MHS Multicultural Fair, featuring food, arts performances, games and work from our MHS students! The event is free and open to the public.
No Tutoring 3/25 & 3/27
We will not hold after school tutoring or test make ups on Tuesday, March 25th or Thursday, March 27th. We will also not have an after-school activity bus on those days.

Spread the Word - Future Pirate Night!
Spread the word to the families of any incoming 9th grade student to MHS for the 2025-2026 school year, our Future Pirate Night will be held at MHS on Thursday, March 27th from 6-8PM!
Prom 2025 Information
The Sands of Time
Prom 2025 will take place at the Hard Rock Hotel in Daytona Beach, FL on April 11, 2025 from 7PM to 11PM. Tickets will go on sale for 12th grade students on Monday, March 24th during both lunches in room 6-134. Tickets will go on sale for any 11th or 12th grade student beginning on March 26th, 2025 during both lunches in room 6-134.
Ride to Prom in Style!
MHS is booking a charter bus to transport students from Matanzas HS to the Hard Rock Hotel for prom on the evening of April 11th. Tickets will be $15 to ride the bus, permission slips will be available outside the SGA room and tickets for the bus can be purchased when you purchase your prom ticket. We are excited to provide this opportunity to get our students to prom and home safely and will save students from having to pay the valet fee to park at the Hard Rock Hotel.
Students wishing to ride the bus must arrive at MHS by 6:30PM, students will be checked in here on campus and will be able to enter prom directly through the back doors upon arrival at the Hard Rock Hotel. The bus will depart the Hard Rock Hotel at 10:45PM. For questions, please see Ms. Brandie Alred.
Student Prom Clearance Info
Any student who wishes to attend prom must complete the clearance form to verify that they meet discipline and attendance expectations to attend, and that they have satisfied all financial debt to Flagler Schools.
Students will receive an email to confirm they are cleared to purchase a ticket.
Behavior and Attendance Criteria:
A student will be ineligible to attend prom if they have any of the following since 1/7/2025:
- Any level 3 or 4 referral that has resulted in out of school suspension or,
- More than 2 skipping referrals or,
- More than 3 tardy referrals or,
- More than 5 unexcused absences.
The clearance form must be completed by the MHS student logged in to the form using his or her Flagler Schools account, parent should assist students with completing the form as it includes parental permission.
Non-MHS Guest Permission Form
Any student wishing to bring a non-MHS guest to prom must complete the clearance form below. Guests must be 20 years of age or under. Guests who are currently students at a public or private high school must have their form signed by their school administration. Guests who are not currently public or private high school students are required to submit a 'clear' background check from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office. Detailed instructions can be found in the form.
The form below must be completed by the MHS student logged in using his or her Flagler Schools account. Guest permission forms must be submitted by April 4, 2025. No late forms will be accepted.

End of Year Preparations
The AICE SAC and General Assembly are working on our Induction/Pinning Ceremony and our End of the Year Banquet. We invite any and all AICE students to attend. Please join us in 1-205 on Thursdays afterschool until 4:30pm. Dates for the Induction Ceremony and the End of the Year Banquet will be announced next week, please be on the lookout.
AICE/AP Study Sessions
AICE/AP Study Sessions are now available after school on Thursdays (3-4:30pm) in Room 1-205 with Mrs Davis. Virtual Study Sessions are also available both Tuesday and Thursday evenings with Ms Doyle (6-7:30pm): meet.google.com/ujg-qewz-jgm (join with Google Meet). Please be sure to have the Opt In form completed in order to participate in either format.

State Wrestling Tournament: We are excited to announce that four of our talented wrestlers will be competing in the state tournament this weekend. Best of luck to Cardy Michel, Bri Drury, Ani Brown, and Mason Obama! We are cheering for you!
- Celebrating Our Athletic Trainer: Join us on Thursday, March 13th, at 6:30 PM on the baseball field to celebrate our Athletic Trainer, Mike Doersch, as he receives the Safe Sports School Award. It’s a wonderful opportunity to show our appreciation for his dedication and hard work.

Our softball team continues their undefeated season with a fantastic win against University on Monday night.
The flag football team triumphed over Interlachen on Tuesday.
Our baseball team secured their first win of the season by defeating Interlachen on Wednesday night.
MHS Athletes Breaking Records
We are thrilled to share that our Pirates shattered 8 school records last week! Here are the standout performances:
Kaya Breckenbridge broke the school record for javelin.
Peyton Cerasi set new school records for both the 1600m and 3200m.
Jordan Theus Vale broke 2 school records for Snatch and Olympic Total.
Jagger Drew-Kulak also broke 2 school records for Snatch and Olympic Total.
Jayce Raiji set a new school record for Olympic Total.
Free Athletic Physicals and ECG Screening Event
May 21 & 22 at FPCHS
Sign ups are open now for FREE Pre-Participation Physicals and ECG Screenings on Wednesday, May 21st and Thursday, May 22nd at Flagler Palm Coast High School. Pre-participation sports physicals are for any Flagler County student in grades 6-12. Students involved in JROTC, marching band, or other school activities requiring a physical may also participate.

Dual Enrollment Registration Dates
Summer 2025 DSC Dual Enrollment Registration
Summer dual enrollment is only available to returning dual enrollment students, new dual enrollment students may not begin in summer.
Summer 2025 Deadline to Submit Registration form to your School Counselor: April 30th
Fall 2025 DSC Dual Enrollment Registration
January 1 - April 2: Application, Testing and Advising Window: New students must complete their application, orientation, new student advising session and placement testing within this period. All of these tasks are completed through Daytona State College directly.
April 3 - May 15th: Registration for Fall 2025. To be eligible for enrollment, students must have applied, tested, planned classes with a DSC advisor, and must submit a completed registration form to his or her school counselor by May 15th. The application, testing and advising process is completed directly between the student and Daytona State - for more information or assistance, see below.
Getting Started with Dual Enrollment
If you would like for your child to get started with dual enrollment, visit the Daytona State College Dual Enrollment website to: read through the complete dual enrollment handbook, apply for admissions, sign up for placement testing, orientation and advising sessions through Daytona State. All of these steps must be completed prior to reviewing your registration with your School Counselor.

Did you know that MHS has a representative from Daytona State College on campus regularly to answer student questions about all things DSC? The representative will be in the breezeway outside of the front office during both lunches on the following days and can answer questions about dual enrollment, coursework, admissions and more!

Senior Graduation Speeches
Each year the administration selects several graduates to speak at the graduation ceremony. The purpose of this tradition is to add student voice to the graduation ceremony and to showcase a variety of student experiences from Matanzas High School.
Any graduating senior from the class of 2025 is eligible to submit a speech for consideration. The best speeches showcase the speaker’s unique personality and voice in sharing an inspirational message or story with your graduating peers.
Speeches must be submitted by 3:00PM on Friday, April 18th.
Speeches must be under 500 words in length.
Speeches will be reviewed by administration and students will be notified the week of April 28th if their speech was selected.
Selected speakers must be available for practice sessions between May 5th and May 23rd and are required to attend speech practice at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach on May 21st at 8:30AM (transportation will be provided if needed)

Seniors! You may meet the criteria for the Florida Seal of the Fine Arts, a program established to recognize high school graduates who have met exemplary benchmarks in fine arts coursework. If you have taken multiple years of fine arts (performing or visual), and have been involved with outside activities, competitions and service, consider applying at the link below:

If you have not yet ordered your cap and gown, please visit the link below for more information and to order. Cap and gown delivery will be on April 4, 2025.
Note: students are NOT required to purchase a graduation package from the website, families may choose to order individual items such as cap & gown by scrolling down to "Shop All Graduation Products" on the Jostens website. Look for "Custom Cap/Gown/Tassel/Medallion Unit" which includes a cap, gown and tassel. The school medallions are provided by MHS to all students on the day of graduation.
Using a Former Graduate's Gown?
We know that some of our students use gowns previously worn by their older siblings - if you are planning to do this, please contact Ms. Alred, our Senior Sponsor (alredb@flaglerschools.com), so that she can verify that you have the most up to date regalia and if needed, work with our Jostens representative to bring your gown up to date.
Having Financial Difficulty?
We know that some of our families have financial hardship that prevent them from being able to afford the cap and gown. If your family needs financial assistance to be able to purchase a cap and gown, please reach out to your child's school counselor directly (contacts below) and she will be able to help.
