Week of September 8th
Hello Killam Families,
Weβre excited to share that we had another fantastic week at school! We kicked things off with our first all-school assembly, where students came together in celebration of our amazing community.
This week, weβve been focusing on our core values, ensuring that each student understands the importance of respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, and how to be a caring citizen. We coin this "being TRRFCC". Itβs been wonderful to see everyone embodying these values throughout the school.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to create a positive and engaging learning environment for all of our students!
Enjoy your Sunday!
Warm regards,
Lindsey Fulton, Principal

We are excited to invite you to our Elementary Back-to-School Night on Wednesday, September 11th! This is a great opportunity to learn more about your childβs school year and meet their teachers.
Event Schedule:
Admin Presentations from Mrs. Fulton, Ms. Hallett, Mr. Blaustein, and the PTO: (choose one):
- Session 1: 5:30-5:45 PM
- Session 2: 6:10-6:25 PM
Classroom Presentations from classroom teachers (choose one for each student):
- Session 1: 5:45-6:05 PM
- Session 2: 6:25-6:45 PM
The Admin and classroom presentations run twice so that families can attend sessions for numerous students. Both sessions include the same content. We ask that you please respect the 6:45 pm end time, so our dedicated educators can get home to their families and get some rest!
We look forward to seeing you on September 11th!
Learning and Teaching Highlight of the Week:
Kindergarten students in Ms.Cole's room were independently helping each other understand how much longer the day was this week. Mrs. Goldner went in after lunch and heard a kindergartener ask how much longer there was left in the day. Another student pointed to the schedule (bottom pic) and said "Look, there are only 6 things left!"
Removing each item as it is completed helps students "see" how much time is left in the day. Processing time is a high-level skill that many children of all ages/abilities need help understanding. Visualizing the passing of time in this way supports them in developing a sense of time. This could even become a class job or at home job for someone who may need extra support in this area π
