Deep Sea
By Jake Rosenbaum
Were It Is
The deep sea is the lowest part of the ocean. It consists of the Midnight zone and the Abyssal zone.
Ocean Water Chemistry
The average temperature in the deep sea is around 39 degrees Fahrenheit but can vary depending on the spot or depth of the ocean.
The average pressure in the deep sea is about 14.5 pound per square inch.
The salinity in the deep sea is about 3.5%.
What The Deep Sea Looks Like
Water Movement In The Deep Sea
In the deep sea, there aren't currents or fast moving sections of water. The gyre movements move the water but don't have a huge affect on organism living in the deep sea.
Characteristics Of An Ecosystem
Abiotic Factors
Because the deep sea is so deep, no sunlight is able to reach it which makes the temperature very cold. Also because the deep sea is so deep, it makes the water pressure and the density of the water extremely high because of all of the weight being put on it by the water above.
Biotic Factors
Some biotic factors in the deep sea include Bacteria, Animal, Fungi and other living organisms.
Invasive Species
An invasive species of the deep sea are Limpets.
Resources In The Deep Sea
Some resources that can be found in the deep sea are oil, Platinum and other valuable substances.
Human Impact
humans impact the deep sea when they pollute into the ocean. Oil spills are another big factor in human impact on the deep sea.
What Can Be Done To Minimize Human Impact
To minimize human impact on the deep sea, people can be more careful and not throw trash into the oceans. Companies can also do a better job of being careful of how they transport goods to make sure that they are keeping the ocean as clean as possible.
What To Take
While going down to the midnight zone you should bring a couple of days worth of clothes, cameras, food and clean water that would be able to last multiple days.
