Grandparents' Day Celebrations at HRE
Next week we will be celebrating Grandparents’ Day on our campus.Due to our size, different grade levels will be celebrating Grandparents’ Day each day. Please see the attached flyer below in order to see the schedule.
In order for grandparents to sign in for Grandparents' Day celebrations, they will enter through the extended day entrance. Grandparents should arrive 30 minutes prior to their grandchild’s celebration in order to begin the sign in process. Grandparents should be listed as emergency contacts on Skyward to be able to celebrate with their students. Grandparents must also present their ID when checking in.
Light refreshments will be served, but grandparents are welcome to bring food with them to enjoy with their grandchildren.
Only grandparents will be allowed to attend the celebration. Due to space limitations, parents, siblings and extended family will not be allowed to attend. When each celebration ends, grandchildren will exit through one door to return to class, and grandparents will exit through another door so that we can prepare for the next celebration.
We will not be able to pull siblings/cousins from other grade levels for grandparents day celebrations. We would like to discourage grandparents from checking out their grandchildren early, so that our student do not miss out on valuable instructional time.
We look forward to having the grandparents join us for our events.
Thank you for your support,
Gabriella Garza

NEW FBISD MAP TESTING
Beginning this year, students in Fort Bend ISD will complete NWEA MAP computer-adaptive assessments three times a year to gain information about what students know and what they are ready to learn next. MAP also gives insight into how students are growing academically, allowing you to track your student's progress throughout the school year and across multiple years. Families will have access to their child's results after each testing window. NWEA MAP is replacing Renaissance 360. For more information, visit the NWEA Family Toolkit linked here or contact your child’s teacher.

FBISD Heat-Related Outdoor Activities Notice
The health and safety of our students is our top priority. According to the National Weather Service, it is very possible that our heat index for the next few weeks will remain high. Campuses will be checking the weather throughout the school day using the National Weather Service to determine if it is safe for outdoor play, which includes physical education (PE) class, recess, athletics and outdoor classroom activities.
Fort Bend ISD has several measures in place to protect students from dangerous heat, including:
- FBISD Weather Guidelines for Outdoor Play: The district has established specific heat guidelines that indicate when outdoor activities should be limited or canceled. These guidelines include factors such as temperature and heat index. The heat guidelines also include information on how to recognize the signs of heat-related illnesses and
- Indoor Activities: When the heat becomes dangerously high, campuses move outdoor activities, including PE classes and recess, indoors to air-conditioned gymnasiums or multipurpose rooms.
- Hydration: We encourage students to stay hydrated by providing water fountains, allowing students to carry water bottles and reminding them to drink water regularly.
- Sun Safety: Sun safety is emphasized, including the importance of sun protection, including wearing hats, sunglasses and sunscreen.
- Bus Safety: For students waiting for the bus off campus, we encourage students to wait in shaded waiting areas or structures to provide relief from the sun if available. For students waiting for a bus on campus, we encourage campuses to keep students inside until the bus arrives if possible.
- Staff Training: Campus nurses and clinic staff are trained to recognize the signs of heat-related illnesses and to respond appropriately.
- Emergency Plans: All campuses have established emergency plans in case a student or staff member experiences a medical-related illness. This might involve having access to first aid supplies, a designated area for cooling down, and protocols for contacting parents or emergency medical services.
Visit the FBISD Weather Guidelines here to learn more about how the district keeps students safe.
We appreciate your continued support as we work together to ensure the safety of our students.

Counselor's Corner
Dear parents
Our school counselors have recently introduced an innovative character education program called Quaver Ready. This program is designed to engage students in developing essential life skills and positive character traits through a blend of music, interactive activities, and storytelling. Quaver focuses on core values such as respect, responsibility, school safety, gratitude, growth mindset, compassion, attendance, growth mindset, integrity, teamwork, and leadership aiming to create a supportive and inclusive school environment.
The program's curriculum is structured to be both educational and entertaining, making it accessible and enjoyable for students of all ages. Through Quaver Ready, students participate in lessons that incorporate songs, games, and discussions that reinforce key character concepts. The counselors use this program as a tool to help students understand the importance of making good choices, building healthy relationships, and contributing positively to their community.
One of the standout features of Quaver Ready is its emphasis on music as a teaching tool. Music is known to be a powerful medium for learning, and Quaver harnesses this by integrating catchy tunes and rhythms that help students remember and apply the character lessons in their daily lives. The program also includes opportunities for students to reflect on their behavior and set personal goals for growth.
The counselors are taking a proactive approach to character education, ensuring that students not only excel academically but also develop the social and emotional skills necessary for success in life. This program is expected to have a lasting impact on the school's culture, fostering a community of compassionate, responsible, and well-rounded individuals.
