THE LINCOLN LOGS
Maslyk's Memos - Must-Know News for Lincoln Families
Happy Fall, Lincoln Families!
Can you believe it's already October?
I just wanted to take a moment to express how proud I am of our students for settling into their new classrooms and routines and making new friends. As the weather starts to get cooler, please make sure to send your children dressed appropriately, especially in the mornings. Jackets and sweatshirts would be perfect to keep them warm. With fall in full swing, Halloween is just around the corner! We plan to celebrate with character dress-up and an outdoor parade, weather permitting.
More details about this event can be found HERE, including parade time, route, and granting consent for your child to participate.
Our book vending machine has arrived at Lincoln, and students can't wait to earn a special token to choose a free book! Our PTO, students, and staff will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony next week to unveil it. Thank you, families and students, for all your hard work with last year's read-a-thon to help make this purchase this year. We appreciate your support in fostering your child's love of reading and supporting our school! As always, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Go Grizzlies! 🐾

Dear Lincoln Families,
October marks the start of our prevention lessons! This month is both Bullying Prevention and Red Ribbon Week, highlighting the importance of kindness and making healthy choices. We’ll also cover staying safe online and violence prevention - how to keep hands and feet to ourselves.
Ways to Practice at Home:
- Talk Together: Ask your child about their day and encourage them to share any feelings they have about school or friendships.
- Set Digital Rules: Discuss safe and respectful online behavior. Consider creating simple rules for screen time together.
- Model Kindness: Show empathy in your interactions, helping your child learn the importance of treating others with respect.
- Encourage Smart Choices: Share stories about making good choices, and remind your child to always ask permission before ingesting anything.
Children’s Book Suggestions:
- "The Juice Box Bully" by Bob Sornson: A story about standing up to bullying and the power of kindness.
- "Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late!" by Mo Willems: A fun way to discuss boundaries and saying no.
- "Llama Llama and the Bully Goat" by Anna Dewdney: A gentle story about dealing with bullies and the importance of friendship.
Together, we can foster a caring and supportive environment for our children this month! Thank you for your partnership!
