VPHS Scholars with Distinction Program
Parents of 11th grade Spartans,
I am excited to announce the Villa Park High School, Scholars with Distinction Program in which we recognize any student that meets or exceeds standards in both English Langrage Arts and in Math on the SBAC test. SBAC or, Smarter Balanced Assessment, is the standardized assessment that all 11th grade students take in the spring. At Villa Park, we use SBAC data to award students that pass both English and Math portions of the test as Scholars with Distinction. Every Scholar with Distinction will be given a cord to wear at graduation and will receive special recognition when they are seniors. In 2022-2023, 124 students earned this recognition.
SBAC testing will start April 9th. Please be sure to let your student know that they have an opportunity to receive special recognition as a Scholar with Distinction and they need to give maximum effort. If you have any questions, please feel free email or contact your administration team.

Spring Sports Assembly Recap
Written By: Alexander Tran
This Friday, over eight varsity sports participated in our seasonal Spring Sports Assembly. Athletes for the past month and a half collaborated with Villa Park High School’s Entertainment Liaisons to help choreograph their dances. Scored from one out of ten, a panel of several teachers also judged the dances. Due to the capacity of the gym, two assemblies were held with separate teacher panels. For the first assembly Girls’ Swim and Track tied for being the top-vote getter. In the second assembly, track overcame the margin and placed 1st place.
The following were the respective teacher panels:
1st Assembly
Mrs. Espinosa (Spanish)
Mr. Willis (History)
Mr. Hart (Physcology)
2nd Assembly
Mrs. Chavez (Math)
Mrs. Barrington (English)
Mrs. Huffman (English)

VPHS Physiology - Sense Lab
By: Nancy Beckelheimer
Our Physiology classes are learning about the five different senses. To understand them better we are doing several labs including a blindfold lab. During this lab we were blindfolded and put into pairs. We guided our partners down the science building stairs and out to the center of campus. Some of the challenges that we had our partners do were; guessing where they were on campus, having them sit on different items around campus, like a bench or boulder, touch and identify the different plants around campus, and identify the different surfaces they were walking on. Some of the more challenging tasks were running on the football field and being guided by voice only.
