Funds received by fundraisers and merchandise sales are used to help students in need in the DCRSD community. These needs vary anywhere from money for field trips and show choir participation to YMCA Camp fees and sports equipment. Requests are evaluated and decided on by The Friends of John Paire, Inc. Committee. If you know of a student who might benefit from this opportunity, please contact a DCRSD teacher, building principal, or a member of the committee.

From Al Salonis ('20) - SHRHS Grad to the US Coast Guard and Nichols College
Hello fellow Shepherd Hill Alumni! I graduated with the class of 2020 (the Covid year). During my time at Shepherd Hill, I was involved in over 11 different activities and groups, including the Principal's Advisory, School Council, Marching Band, and the Student Selectmen. Through my time on the Hill, I learned commitment, dedication, teamwork, leadership, and pride in myself as a student and as a community member. These lessons have served me well since graduation.
Since graduating high school, I have gone on to further my education at Nichols College. My current degree is a BSBA in Criminal Justice Management with a minor in Psychology. I am thoroughly enjoying the academics at Nichols, as well as being involved with campus life. I am a member of the Bison Pantry which helps students who might not have enough food. I am also an active member with the Student Government Association, I’m currently the Vice President of the Class of 2024, and I’m on the Student Tour Team, providing tours to potential students. I have met so many new people and thoroughly enjoy being involved on campus.
I have also enlisted in the United States Coast Guard - Reserve. I have served for over a year now and enjoy working hard, being challenged, and serving my country. Last summer, I spent 10 weeks enduring Boot Camp at Cape May, NJ. I learned a whole new level of “pain”, but also pride. This summer, the Coast Guard sent me to a 13-week training in Yorktown, VA to learn how to be a Machinery Technician/Engineer. Upon graduation, I will return to the Port Security Unit 301 on Cape Cod, where I will be expected to uphold the maintenance of the fleet, both on land and while “underway”.
Currently, I work part-time as a Public Safety Officer at Harrington Hospital and as a Dispatcher for Nichols College Security. I also spent two years as a Dudley Call Fire Fighter during the height of the pandemic. I enjoy working hard and learning everything life has to offer.
Overall, I have been busy since departing the halls of Shepherd Hill. I cannot wait to see what future adventures life throws my way. I am very thankful for the opportunities Shepherd Hill gave me and I would not be where I am without all the help that I received throughout the years on the Hill. “Fair winds and following seas” to all my fellow alumni.

Kimberly Lundquist ('89), a Mason Road School Kindergarten teacher, receives $2500 grant from "Lucy's Legacy Foundation" to help her students
This year, I am EXCITED to say that we will continue however with a different funding source. I am a graduate of Wheelock College in Boston which is now part of BU. There is a foundation called "Lucy's Legacy Foundation" where alumni can apply for grants that provide "resources to alumni who are working to inspire a world of good." I am excited to be a recipient and have been awarded a personal grant of $2500.00 to use towards purchasing scholastic books for our kindergarten students. The grant funds carryover and should cover at least this year and next year depending on scholastic costs. I do hope to be able to continue to do this for years to come for our students. In a few years we may once again ask for donations, but for now I am just SO EXCITED to be a recipient of this grant!!!
Learning to love reading is so important! The kids' faces light up when given the book each month. For those who have reached out about donating this year, Thank You for offering!! To the Board of Directors of the Lucy Legacy Foundation, I am so very appreciative and EXCITED about this award! Thank you!
