St. Thomas School
Mid-Week Memo: October 2, 2024
Our Mission:
St. Thomas School serves the parishes of St. Therese of Lisieux, Holy Spirit, and St. Matthew.
In partnership with the family, we are dedicated to nurturing the personal development of the whole child. Our mission is to instill Catholic values, foster self-discipline, and promote academic excellence in the spirit of a caring, affirming community.
From the Principal's Desk...
Greetings, St. Thomas families!
This year our theme is “Love Like Jesus”! Last month we learned about love right from the Bible. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 tells us about love:
- Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.
We then learned about how we can be best friends with Jesus so He can help us love like Him. We learned about doing this through prayer, reading His Word, attending mass, and receiving the Eucharist. For the remainder of the year we will use what we know about love and Jesus to help us love like Him with our head, our heart, and our hands.
Catalog Fundraiser I heard that the updated link from yesterday still came out a bit funky for some folks. Third time’s the charm?! Please go to www.shopfund.com to register!
Uniform Code: Sweatshirts With cooler weather here, please be sure that sweatshirts are plain (free from any writing, logos, images) or imprinted with St. Thomas’ logo.
Monthly Calendar You can now find our monthly calendar right on your family portal! On the left hand side, click on “Calendar”. You may change the type of view for your preferences and print right from that screen. Also, if you click on the event you will be able to see any additional information entered. Please see the image below for guidance. Reach out to the main office or your child’s teacher with any questions.
Progress Reports On Friday, October 4th, progress reports will be going home for middle school students. This will be the last time we send them home as a paper copy, since we now have the family portal in which families can see grades. More to come on finding this in the portal next quarter.
REMINDERS
Halloween Friday, October 25th we will wear Halloween costumes for Fabulous Friday; students will not wear costumes on October 31st. All costumes must be appropriate (no blood, weapons, evil themes, etc.) and no masks may be worn. In addition, the costume must permit the student to sit, stand, walk, and move freely without restricting them and/or others.
Friday, 10/4 will be a Monday special schedule (health or library specials) due to school pictures - school uniform OR dress clothes may be worn. This is not a dress down day, but a dress UP day (if preferred). Dresses or other colored slacks with button down shirts and ties are options. It may help to think about what dress attire would be worn to a school concert. If you still have questions, please reach out to your child's teacher.
NWEA makeup testing continues until Wednesday, October 9th.
Have a delightful remainder of the week and weekend ahead!
In His joy,
Mrs. Angela Madigan
Principal
