Two Awesome Ted Talks to Inspire Your Week
Dear Cougar Family,
I hope each of you has enjoyed your 4 day weekend, spending time embracing this beautiful time of year with family and friends! My family and I had what seemed like a non-stop Easter marathon as we hosted both sides of our family at our home this weekend. We made amazing memories and spent a lot of time laughing, playing, and enjoying one another. A side benefit of being the hostess is that is my yard looks awesome, and we're starting the week with a clean house! (I had to share some of my roses in the inset picture--so pretty!)
I've thought a lot about these two Ted Talks recently, and while I have shared each of them before in previous professional learning, I know some of you may not have seen them. Depending on which one suits your needs and mindset this week, please take a few minutes to choose one and watch:
- "The Danger of a Single Story" - Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, from the TedEd lesson: "Our lives, our cultures, are composed of many overlapping stories. Novelist Chimamanda Adichie tells the story of how she found her authentic cultural voice -- and warns that if we hear only a single story about another person or country, we risk a critical misunderstanding."
- "Every Kid Needs a Champion" - Rita Pierson, from the TedEd lesson: "Rita Pierson, a teacher for 40 years, once heard a colleague say, "They don't pay me to like the kids." Her response: "Kids don't learn from people they don’t like.” Her Talk is a rousing call to educators to believe in their students and actually connect with them on a real, human, personal level."
May you all have an outstanding week!
As always, COUGAR PRIDE!

Need Supplies for Projects?
CSHS has a project cart available to assist in classroom projects and the library is very generous when it comes to helping students with needs of this nature. To check out the cart, contact Kim Rodgers.
Outdoor Classroom
The Layout is flexible! Check out this slideshow for inspiration as to how you might use the space with your classes.
To reserve the classroom, go to the CSHS Outdoor Classroom Calendar. Make an all-day reservation and include teacher name and periods of use. (ex. Parkerson 3,4,5).
Not convinced working outside has any impact on learning? Check out this article on the subject.
