Greetings Phalen Virtual Leadership Academy Families,

Happy Friday! Happy November! Can you believe it is already November? My family and friends in Minnesota received snow yesterday, which made me grateful for our mini rain showers throughout the day!

Let's take a moment and highlight our scholars in Grades 3-8 who successfully completed their first of 3 iLearn Checkpoints. We are so proud of all scholars and families who made sure scholars had a quiet work space, remained on camera and took their time to answer the questions on their own. We made sure to get testing completed before those who celebrate Halloween got filled up on sugar and were too stimulated to give their very best.

Registration is still open for the 2024-2025 Academic School Year. Please share your success at PLA Virtual with friends, family, neighbors and organizations, as we may be a great school choice for them as well. Our registration link is below. We appreciate all the referrals that have been shared with us by YOU. They are proud to give your name as the person who referred them, and we also sing your praises in return as we appreciate all of our families.

We look forward to seeing your scholar(s) on Monday, November 4, 2024 for week 13 of our school year! Our Grades 6-12 scholars begin their school day at 8:00am and our Grades K-5 scholars begin at 8:30am.

Understanding the New FAFSA-Part II

Come to our FAFSA Convocation on Tuesday, November 5th at 8 AM-9:30 AM EST. Parents/guardians are encouraged to attend. This will be recorded and included in the weekly newsletter the same week. Juniors and seniors are encouraged to apply THIS YEAR.

A guest speaker from INvestEd-Indiana will also be present to share financing and money management options for funding college and trade schools.

As we know, even if not planning to attend a 2-year or 4-year college, ACCREDITED trade schools can also be paid for with FAFSA funds. Trade schools that accept federal funds include:

• Cosmetology programs

• Aviation programs

• HVAC programs

• Lincoln Tech (offers manufacturing AND NURSING)

• Ivy Tech (offers 70+ trade school programs/certifications)

Center for Leadership Development (CLD) is a pillar in the Indianapolis community offering MILLIONS of dollars on scholarships to worthy students statewide. Students are required to participate in their programming, complete the SAT, and apply to the colleges of the interest that are also in partnership with CLD.

Center for Leadership Development is also hosting our college and career prep events, so make sure mark your calendars and attend!

Phalen Virtual Leadership Academy (PLA Virtual) is a tuition-free online learning academy for Indiana families in grades K-12. We are backed by an accredited university to help empower our scholars and families to accelerate academic success with high-quality curriculum taught in their own environment. We use technology to provide interactive and rigorous online classes that allow our scholars to learn and thrive. Our scholars excel not just in academics, but also socially and emotionally with a blend of online coursework and options to engage in sports and enrichment at a local PLA campus.
