It's crazy to believe that our first semester is almost over! Here are a few important details about the final week and a half -
Friday, December 13 - Channel your Flannel
Monday, December 16 - Holiday Character Day(No masks or inflatable costumes)
Tuesday, December 17 - Holiday Chaos(wear all your Holiday gear!)
Wednesday, December 18 - See you next year! Wear New Year's Eve accessories!
We will have finals in each class, and December 18th will be the last day of school. We will return from break on Wednesday, January 8th, 2025.
Updates
Also, cleaning stations for iPads will be set up in each classroom early next week to help reduce the spread of germs as we get into flu and cold season.
Penny Wars!
National Junior Honor Society is sponsoring Penny Wars this year to benefit Blue Santa here in Lago Vista. It ends on Monday, so collect your change this weekend!

Children Hunger Initiative
Don't worry about cooking on Wednesday December 11. Head to BUN-D for dinner and benefit the Children's Hunger Initiative.
The award-winning Lago Vista High School Valkyries will be hos9ng a dance clinic on
Friday, December 20th for all current LVISD students enrolled in Kinder - 8th grade. AGendees will
be broken up by age groups and taught a dance appropriate for his/her age and grade level by the
Valkyries. Dancers will also get to play games, do a craK, be given a Valkyrie shirt, and put on
showoff dance performance for family and friends aKer the clinic.
All proceeds will help offset the cost/expenses of Valkyries’ costumes and compe;;on fees this year.

Grade & Attendance Alerts -
We encourage all parents to log into your Parent Portal at any time and set up alerts. Follow the directions and screenshots below.
Once you are logged into your Parent Portal, go to the upper right hand corner of your screen and click on the "bell".
You will then click on the View/Set Alerts.
Click on the Set Alerts to go to the menu to set alerts for grades, assignments and attendance.

Strive for 5!
In addition to missed learning opportunities, many parents also may not realize that our school's funding from the State is directly tied to daily attendance. Each day your child is present, the school receives about $37. While $37 might not seem significant on its own, it adds up quickly. Last year, the District's funding was reduced by over $700,000 due to student absences. This loss of funds impacts our ability to hire more teachers, reduce class sizes, and further enhance the learning environment for all students.
We appreciate your help in reducing avoidable absences so that your child — and all of our students — can take full advantage of the excellent instruction we offer every day.

Vaping = DAEP
HB 114 makes offenses involving the possession and/or or use of vapes a mandatory DAEP offense. School districts will now be required to place all students who are caught in possession and/or or using vapes (of any kind – not just those with drugs) into their DAEP.
Please share this with your children - it's just not worth it!
