TIPS Journal February 28, 2023
on the school year so far
Greetings from Tokyo International Progressive School
Our Variety Show, co-directed by Mr. Wan and Mr. Mondino, will be held on March 10. The location is Tamagawa Seseragi Hall, 3-4-1 Todoroki, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo. It is a 1-minute walk from Todoroki Station, on the Tokyu Oimachi line. There is coin-operated parking for guests, which costs 100 yen per 10 minutes. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for a 6:00 p.m. start.
We have done our best to include everyone in the Variety Show, but the thrill of stage bright lights or backstage pressure is not for everyone. The eight students not in the Variety Show will be dismissed at 12:30, and bus riders will be leaving by 1 p.m.
In the lobby of the Variety Show auditorium, you will see a donation box for new, almost new, or gently used clothes. Please contribute clothes in good condition. This is a community service project of our grade six, which you can read more about below.
The Service Trip to Iriomote Island is coming up on March 20. There is still time to donate to help families with the costs as the plane tickets were quite a bit more than usual. Click below to find out how to contribute. We thank you!
Mr. Jessen-Petersen will present "The Teenage Brain with Learning Differences" March 31 from 7 p.m. Register for the free presentation at the link below.
As we have since 2020, we follow Japanese guidelines for COVID precautions. From April 1, masks at school will be optional at school.
As always, any questions, please ask.
All the best,
Lyn Sato
TIPS Principal
Dear Parents and Variety Show Guests,
Our grade 6 students in collaboration with a parent have organized a clothing drive. The donations will go into a pop-up boutique for homeless people and refugees through an organization working on humanitarian issues. The sole purpose is to allow patrons to feel like they are offered nice, almost new and NEW things. As the weather gets warmer, please consider donating spring/summer clothes.
Thank you, Grade 6 Students

STUDENT COUNCIL NEWS
Valentine's season is over! Cupid visited each classroom handing out lovely chocolates and heartfelt letters. However the season of excitement and love is not over yet! The love for joy and Easter is already in the air. April 5th, Student Council will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt with the whole school. Mentors and mentees will be sorted into different groups and assigned classrooms to hunt for eggs. The winning team will receive a prize of sweets! Further details will be explained on the day, please stay tuned for the event as the Easter Bunny will be hopping around campus on the day as well.
Furthermore, as Student Council, we have donated money to the Service Trip! We hope that they can turn this opportunity into a valuable experience.
