Dear Emerson Families,
We wanted to inform you that some damage has been discovered over the past few months in the boy's bathrooms at our school, and we are currently working to address the issue. Please speak with your student about appropriate bathroom behaviors. We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to maintain a safe and clean environment for all of our students. Thank you for your continued partnership.
All the Best,
Tessa

PowerSchool Parent Portal Password Update
District 64 cares about the security of your student's personal information. Effective December 13th, we will be requiring all parents to create a minimum 12-character password for their PowerSchool Parent Portal account. Strong passwords are of the utmost importance - they protect your electronic accounts and devices from unauthorized access, keeping your sensitive personal information safe. The more complex the password, the more protected your information will be from cyber threats and hackers.
December Notes from the Gym
After returning from Thanksgiving break, Emerson students participated in the Bike Safety Quiz (BSQ) Mini-Grant program, sponsored by Ride Illinois.
This nonprofit organization is dedicated to making Illinois a safer, more enjoyable, and accessible place for biking through advocacy, education, and awareness.
Since 2018, Ride Illinois has partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to support this program. Through funding from IDOT, K-12 schools in Illinois are reimbursed $2 per student who completes the BSQ after watching a bike safety video. At Emerson, funds from this grant have been used to enhance our PE program by purchasing new equipment over the years.
Looking ahead, December brings an exciting volleyball unit in PE. Students will be introduced to the rules and concepts of the game to develop skills and a love for volleyball, promoting lifelong fitness. Additionally, students will continue their regular fitness center activities.
The 7th and 8th grade Boys’ Basketball season is in full swing! Stay updated by visiting the Emerson Athletics page for game schedules.
Our intramural activities are ongoing throughout the school year, held after school from 3:00 to 4:00 PM. An activity bus is available at 4:00 PM to take students home. For details on upcoming dates and activities, please click here.
Thank you for your continued support of our PE and athletics programs. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your student’s PE teacher directly.
Rainbows Student Peer Groups
Rainbows for All Children provides peer groups for kids in 1st - 8th grade. These groups provide a safe space for them to share their experiences associated with loss of a loved one and/or a changing family dynamic due to divorce, deployment, etc. Trained facilitators help encourage communication while identifying, navigating and discussing feelings amongst the group. Our next session begins on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025. This free program meets every Tuesday, from 5:30 - 6:30 pm, at the Park Ridge Community Church.
Please use this Google Form link to register your child/children and/or to be added to our communications list. Any general questions or interest in volunteering to become a facilitator, please contact rainbows64@att.net . For more general info please visit https://rainbows.org/
