Taking Flight
Aerodynamically, the bumble bee shouldn’t be able to fly, but the bumble bee doesn’t know it so it goes on flying anyway. ~ Mary Kay Ash
Greetings Goshen Lane Families,
Ever witnessed a student accomplishing what the world said he or she could not, like a bumble bee taking flight? With encouragement, some young people take flight despite the challenges they face. In the middle of the word encouragement stands the word courage. When we encourage young people, we literally pour courage into them, prompting some heartfelt action toward their fuller potential, helping them fly even when the odds are stacked against them. To encourage means to hearten, embolden, inspire, advocate, and enliven. Encouragement is a gift we give our students, an act of generosity. And when we encourage them, we ourselves are heartened.
Something to think about.
Ohio’s law for the Third Grade Reading Guarantee and Ohio’s Dyslexia Support put a greater emphasis on reading instruction and intervention in the early grades. Through these initiatives, school districts are required to identify reading deficiencies in kindergarten through third grade students using a diagnostic screening assessment to be completed by certain times in the year. Please click on the link for your student's grade level to learn more about the law and the assessments.
