Chelmsford Community Read In

Next week, Byam and the other schools in Chelmsford will be participating in a long standing tradition of the Community Read-In. Members of our community take time out of their schedules to come in to read to classrooms. School Nutrition Month

March is National Nutrition Month, and we are eating through the alphabet. You will see tastings of different fruits/vegetables daily at your school for students to try! March 3-7th is National School Breakfast Week. We are having a district wide Pajama Day and celebrating “Breakfast for Lunch” on Thursday, March 6th.

Ivy the Very Determined Dog Visiting Byam

On March 10, Byam will have an all school assembly with the author, Maureen Harrington and Ivy visiting our students for two presentations. Thank you to the BSA for sponsoring this event and we look forward to great author visit.

MCAS Dates

It is hard to believe we are in the beginning stages of our MCAS administratration planning. We will be providing more information in the coming weeks for 3rd and 4th grade families but wanted to share our testing dates in advance.

Grade 3 Testing:

ELA- Monday 4/7, Tues. 4/8

Math- Wednesday 5/14, Thursday May 5/14

Grade 4 Testing:

ELA- Wednesday 4/9, Thursday 4/10,

Math- Monday 5/12, Tuesday 5/13

4th Grade Families Reminder

For our 4th Grade Families: A reminder this Saturday March 1st is the CPS Instrument Test Drive for incoming 5th grade students. The previously sent letter for 4th grade families including frequently asked questions is attached below. We hope you will join the annual Instrument Test Drive event this Saturday March 1 from 9:00 a.m.– 11:00 a.m. at Chelmsford High School, 200 Richardson Road to support you and your child in preparing to select an arts block class for next year. Please use the main high school entrance (NOT the Carl J. Rondina Performing Arts Center entrance). At the Test Drive event, grade 4 students will have the opportunity to try instruments offered in the 5th grade beginning instrument programs and meet the grade 5 band and orchestra teachers.

We hope you can join us on March 3rd, 2025 from 6-8pm at Roller Kingdom in Tyngsboro for a fun night of skating!

Tickets are $15 per skater and include skate rental! Please note, tickets are not required for non-skaters. Friends and family outside of Byam are welcome to join!

Byam Art displayed at Chelmsford Public Library March 5-28th

Congratulations to the six Byam students whose artwork was selected for the Chelmsford K-12 Youth Art Month exhibition at the Chelmsford Public Library! The “Grand Opening” of the exhibit will take place on Wednesday, March 5 between 5:00-6:00 p.m. at the Library. Art teachers from all schools will also be there to meet and congratulate the artists, and refreshments will be provided.
