An Update from Hough Elementary

Welcome Back to School!
Dear Hough Families,
It is with great excitement that I am sending this letter to you. I am honored to be the new Principal of Hough Street School and can't wait for the first days of school as I get to meet all of the Hough Hawks. I have enjoyed getting settled into the school and visiting my favorite spots in the local community over the past few weeks.
I hope your family has had an incredible summer and that you have spent many days savoring time together, making new memories, and relaxing with a more casual schedule. As we roll into the early days of August, back-to-school feelings begin to surface and a new surge of energy fills our minds! Although there are a couple weeks left before the first day of school, I wanted to share some important information, along with a few dates, as your family begins to plan for the whirlwind that comes with a new school year.
Character Strong will replace Second Step in developing social-emotional competencies for students. This program emphasizes the development of safe, predictable learning environments where all feel included. It echoes much of the language that Hough’s prior success was built upon encouraging students to tackle new challenges and to always be the best you can be! The program's three main tenets are: Be Kind, Be Strong, Be Well.
