Principal's Message
Happy Sunday Gladiator Families!
Unfortunately that pesky groundhog seems to have been right this year and we continue to struggle with rougher than normal winter weather. I'm grateful that we got back in for Thursday and Friday, but we are already looking toward more cold temperatures and snow Wednesday and Thursday. Fingers crossed that this one doesn't cause us to miss much if any school.

Shout Outs!
Saturday was School Resource Officer Appreciation Day and we celebrated with our SROs on Friday. A big thanks to Sgt. Pultz and Deputy Burner who regularly serve the Riverheads campus. We are grateful for your service to our Gladiators and the work you do to keep us safe and build positive, productive relationships with our students.
A special shout out to Sgt. Stroop who provided extra coverage at RES on Friday. We appreciate you spending time with us!
T-Shirt Drive for Kaitlyn
There is a super cute shirt that you can purchase to support Kaitlyn and her family. A part of the proceeds will go directly to Kaitlyn and her family. RES is not receiving any of the proceeds this is strictly to support the family. You can purchase a t-shirt through February 24.
Reminders for Cold & Flu Season
With the uptick in illness the last few weeks, here are some reminders:
- Practice good hand hygiene including washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, washing hands after coughing or sneezing, and using alcohol based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
- Practice good respiratory hygiene including using tissues to cover the mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing, dispose of the tissue immediately in a trash can, if you don't use a tissue, cough/sneeze in your upper sleeve, not your hands, and wash hands after coughing or sneezing.
- If your child is sick with fever, they need to be fever free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school.
- If your child is having vomiting and diarrhea, they should not return to school until is been 24 hours from their last episode of vomiting/diarrhea.
Title I Annual Meeting
You are cordially invited to our Title I Annual Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February 25 starting at 5:00 pm. Come eat a snack and learn about Title 1 funding, support for students, parent engagement opportunities and more! We would love to hear your ideas on how to make RES even better!

Good News Gladiators
Each morning our Gladiators are asked to live up to our Red Pride Pledge by being safe, respectful, responsible, caring learners. Students who live up to our Riverheads Expectations for Success have a chance to be nominated by their teacher or another staff member for the honor of being a Good News Gladiator. Students who earn this honor are given a shout out over the announcements and are allowed to choose a book from our book vending machine.
Please join me in celebrating these Gladiators for showing their Red Pride!
We have been busy recognizing students all year, so be on the lookout for more Good News Gladiators each week.

SRO Appreciation Day
While SRO Appreciation Day is officially Saturday, February 15, we celebrated with our School Resource Officers on Friday. Many of our students and staff took time out to say thanks to Sgt. Pultz and Deputy Burner, our regular SROs. Pictured above you can see one of our 4th grade classes saying thanks and cheering Sgt. Pultz for his work.
