THE LEAD DOG
The BHS Newsletter, 18th Edition: Monday, Dec. 16, 2024
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL...
Students, Parents, Faculty, and Staff,
As we approach the conclusion of the Fall semester this week, I want to express my sincere appreciation for the hard work and dedication demonstrated by our entire school community. We've accomplished a great deal together, and I am incredibly proud of our progress.
Please note that our schedule will deviate from the regular routine this week. Today (B Day) and tomorrow (Tuesday, A Day) will proceed as usual. However, starting Wednesday, we will transition to our Fall Semester Exam Schedule (see below). Remember, these exams are a significant part of your semester grade, contributing 15% to your overall average. I encourage you to prioritize your preparation by reviewing course material and making sure you get enough rest and nourishment. Let's finish the semester strong!
Important Note: Please carefully review the exam schedule as it differs from our typical daily schedule this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
A Message to Parents:
Your active involvement in your child's education is crucial. Please ensure consistent school attendance and proactively monitor their academic progress. Utilize Skyward regularly to stay informed and promptly address any concerns or questions with teachers. Open communication between students, parents, and teachers is essential for student success.
Wishing you all a Happy Holiday!
I hope everyone has a Happy Holiday and enjoys the break. I encourage you to relax and recharge because when we return in January, you will need to "buckle up and hang on." If you can believe it, the spring semester goes even faster than the fall one!!! Make sure you return ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities that await!
"Everyone has a role in our students' education... the students, teachers and staff, the parents, and the community... Go Hounds!"
***To keep up with everything "Boerne HS," please check our school website and your school email periodically. Also, follow Boerne HS on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for the latest updates.***

Happenings at Boerne HS:
- The Greyhound Football team fell short to Richmond Randle in the State Semifinals last Friday at Baylor University in Waco. They were one of only four teams left in the State last Friday. We congratulate them on a 3rd-place finish in the state this season. What a way to honor the 100 years of Boerne HS football we celebrated this year. The Hounds ended up with an 11-4 record and captured four gold trophies this season by winning:
- The Bi-District Championship over Corpus Christi Carroll, 39-21
- The Area Championship over Edcouch-Elsa, 38-3
- The Regional Semifinals Championship over Victoria West, 59-15
- The Region IV Championship over Corpus Christi Miller, 65-50
- Girls' basketball went 2-0 in district play last week, with one of those victories coming this last Saturday when they hosted Champion HS in the first-ever meeting between the two teams. The Greyhounds whooped the Chargers 92-34 for their 2nd win of the week. Last Tuesday, the girls traveled to Smithson Valley and picked up a district win, 64-26. Their productive offense and stingy defense led to average scores in those games of 78-30 for two impressive margins of victory. They will travel to Alamo Heights tomorrow for a big district match-up before the holidays. Good luck, ladies!
- Boys' basketball picked up a district win last Tuesday when they hosted Smithson Valley, 48-47. Saturday, they traveled to Champion HS and came up short in a close game. Their current overall record is 10-5. They will host Alamo Heights in a big district game before the holidays tomorrow. Good luck, boys!
- Both boys and girls soccer hosted teams for scrimmages this past Saturday. It was great competition, and both teams will continue scrimmaging through the holidays, with their first games coming after the first of the New Year. Good luck, Hounds!

Boerne HS Campus Behavior Expectations...
Parents,
We ask that you review our "Campus Behavior Expectations" with your student. If your student wants to be successful at Boerne HS academically, socially, and emotionally, these three simple, easy expectations can be followed. As faculty and staff, we plan to model these behaviors to our students daily. We will be visiting with and reminding our students about these expectations consistently and ask that you do the same.
Be prompt and productive - be where you are supposed to be, when you are supposed to be there, and do what you are supposed to do.
Have respect for yourself and others - when you have respect, you make good, thoughtful choices considering everyone's feelings and beliefs.
See something, say something - be a voice for someone when they can't. If you see or know something is wrong, alert an adult you know ASAP. Don't overlook something you know is wrong.
