Most of our staff are now off contract. This now includes all teachers, counselors and Assistant Principals. Our Assistant Principals will return to work on Monday, July 11.

In July, families will be able to make payments for the student locker fee, student activity fee, and other school related fees (music programs, etc.).

The locker fee is required for all students and will be $10.00 this school year.. This fee covers the hallway locker and PE locker. Students will be required to keep their cell phone in their locker, as well as their backpack. Students will not carry backpacks to classrooms this school year.

The student activity fee is required for all students and will be $10.00 this school year. This fee funds our PBIS/Rrroar program. All students benefit from our Rrroar program throughout the school year.

The locker fee and student activity fee should be paid by Thursday, July 30 in order for students to receive their locker on Information Day.

During the week of July 25, we will be offering school tours for new students and families. These tours are specifically for families who have recently moved into our attendance zone and will be attending NMS for the first time.

A sign up form will be available for these tours after the July 4th holiday. Please check the school website at that time.

More information will be shared with NMS families before August.

Parents/guardians have the ability to "turn off" attendance notifications in their Parent Portal. Click on the Silhouette on the top right and select Settings. Unclick the box for the Attendance emails.

The Curriculum Hub provides a variety of resources to assist parents in supporting their student's learning in the areas of English Language Arts/Reading, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies including:

• A year-at-a-glance for each course with the standards taught in each unit
• Unit plans detailing the specific learning targets to be mastered
• Parent resources to preview or review concepts and skills taught in each unit

Our School Governance Council has discussed the need to do more as a school community to better understand our student's use of social media and cell phones, and provide education for students and families around this issue. This school year, our students will engage in more discussions with staff around safe and responsible use of cell phones.

Representatives from Bark presented at one of our previous PTO meetings. As a company, Bark provides monitoring service and resources for families. I will be sharing information from Bark and other sources weekly in our newsletter.
