THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Greetings, Twin Creeks Warriors!
As we move forward in this school year, I want to take a moment to thank each of you for your continued dedication and commitment to excellence. Whether it’s in the classroom, on the field, or in our community, our Warrior pride shines bright every day!
Please remember that Monday is a holiday, and there will be no school. Take this opportunity to rest, recharge, and spend quality time with loved ones.
When we return, let’s refocus on our goals and finish the week strong. Remember, attendance, effort, and a positive attitude are key to our success. Together, we can achieve great things because at Twin Creeks, we are Warriors—whatever it takes, no excuses!
Enjoy your long weekend, and we’ll see you back on Tuesday, ready to learn and grow.
Educationally yours,
Dr. Shelby-King
Campus Policies
Dress Code Policy
ID Badges
Everyone will be provided an ID badge and must be visibly displayed by wearing the badge on the outside of each scholar’s sweatshirts, shirts, and/or jackets.
If left at home, lost or damaged, a temporary ID badge may be purchased for $1. A new badge may be purchased for $3 and a lanyard may be purchased for $2. If the District implements the Smart Pass, the replacement cost will be $5 in addition to the $2 lanyard fee.
Each grade level has a specific colored lanyard. (6th-Navy; 7th-Black; and 8th-Yellow)
School Uniforms
Our school uniform shirts and sweatshirts are solid grey, solid black and solid gold. No white shirts.
Our scholars do not wear hoodies, shorts or dresses.
Our No Hoodie protocols will be in place on the first day of school. Please help us begin your scholars’ day on a positive note. We will always greet your scholars with a warm welcome and would like to end it with ‘have a great day’. You may help to ensure your scholar has a great school entry every morning by making certain he/she is dressed appropriately each day.
Sweatshirts must be grey, black or gold without any graphics.
Jackets/coats/sweaters may not have a hood.
Pants may be khaki, navy, black or denim. Pants may not be torn, have holes or tattered.
Our PTO sells quality t-shirts for $11 and sweatshirts for $25. First come, first serve.
Shoes:
Shoes should provide adequate support and safety.
No Crocs, slides, open toed shoes, sandals, flip-flops, houseshoes, slippers, and steel toe boots are not permitted.
Scholars should only have the shoes they are wearing. No slides or Crocs should be brought to the campus. No sports or activities require slides or Crocs.
Headwear:
Only religious based headgear is allowed. No headgear of any kind is permitted for girls or boys including bandanas, caps, beanies, hats, doo-rags (durags), crochet scarves or hoods.
Backpacks and Bags:
Backpacks must be either mesh or clear.
Backpacks must be free from decorations, enhancements or writings that advertise, glorify or support lewd, offensive, vulgar, obscene or profane language or gestures, gangs, illegal activities, tobacco, sex, alcohol, illegal drugs or violence.
All athletic bags that are required for sports must be stored in the students athletic locker as soon as scholars are released to report to class at 9:00 am.
After the season is over, athletic bags may no longer be brought to school.
Large purses/bags are not permitted.
All athletes must take their backpacks to the gym lockers before going to the classroom.
Late arrivals must adhere to the athletic backpack policy
Containers/Water Bottles
No open containers.
Only “factory sealed” containers (water, Gatorade, juice) are allowed.
Yeti, Rtic or other containers must be empty for safety reasons.
All scholars should finish outside food and drinks before entering the building.
Dress Code Protocol
Scholars will be checked upon entry into the school. If a scholar is wearing white or any other color that is not grey, black or gold, he/she will be allowed to call home for someone to bring the school appropriate colored shirt or sweatshirt. The scholar will wait in the EC room until someone arrives with the appropriate clothing. All hoodies and headgear (girls included) will be collected upon entry. It is the scholars responsibility to pick up their collected items as they are leaving for the day from their grade level administrative assistant.
Cell Phone Protocol
Cell phones are not to be utilized during school hours. All scholars are expected to power off their cell phones prior to entering the building.
Upon entering the classroom, teachers will remind students to place their cell phones in their backpacks or in an area designated by the teacher.
Students are not allowed to take their cellphones to the restroom.
Students are not allowed to charge their cell phones at school as we are No Cell Phone campus.
If your scholar is caught using a cell phone, a warning will be given and the cell phone will remain with the administrative assistant until the end of the day for the first incident.
The second cell phone violation will result in the cell phone being taken and turned in to an administrator. Once confiscated, parents have two options: pay the $15 fee or your scholar will serve a full day in EC. Yes, we understand that you own the phone, but please note our policies are clear and are aligned with the Texas Association of School Boards.
If you need to speak with your scholar for any reason during the school day, please call the school, 281-891-7850. We will provide an office and a phone for your scholar to return your telephone call.
15-15 Rule
During the first and last 15 minutes of the class period, students are not allowed to leave the classroom.
This rule protects our instructional time. We only have 51 minutes in class. We will protect 30 of those instructional minutes by not allowing scholars to leave the classroom unless it is an emergency. Please review the District’s 9 B’s Policy to determine an emergency.
Tardy Policy
Students are expected to report to class on time.
Scholars who acquire 3 tardies or who are repeatedly tardy in a 9 Week grading cycle may be assigned after or Saturday school detention, EC, suspension and parents may be required to conference with an administrator.
Students who are constantly tardy may also receive personal escorts to class either before or after class transitions.
Nurse’s Pass
Parents, please encourage your scholar to come to school and remain in class. All teachers have a First-Aid kit in their classrooms (band-aids, alcohol wipes etc). The District has adopted a 9 B’s policy. In order for our scholars to go to the nurse, one of the following 9 things should be evident:
Blood
Burns
Breaks/Big Bump
Burning Up/Fever
Barf/Bowels (Diarrhea)
Breathing
Bites
Bonafide
Other emergencies include: fainting, known medical emergencies like allergic reactions, asthma, cardiac or diabetic emergencies or seizures.
If the reason for seeing the nurse is not on this list, it is more than likely not an emergency and not a reason to be seen by the nurse. The scholar will be recommended to remain in class. Please inform your scholar that a headache or stomach ache is not a reason to leave class. The nurse is not allowed to administer anything for head or stomach aches; therefore, scholars should remain in class.
Restroom Policy Will Be Enforced
Restrooms are closed during class exchange.
We only have a 3 minute class exchange. It is impossible for nearly 900 scholars to go to the restroom and still get to class on time.
Scholars are provided unlimited access to the restrooms during PE and lunch only.
Scholars must leave their cell phones in the classroom when going to the restroom.
Scholars are provided four passes a class period each 9 weeks to go to the restroom. That’s a minimum of 36 opportunities to use the restroom in 45 days.
Our scholars will receive a limited number of passes to go to the restroom each 9 weeks. Please keep in mind that we only have 51 minutes of instruction per class period. Only 30 minutes is protected. Scholars may not leave the class while the teacher is presenting the lesson (Do Now and initial instruction) and cannot leave the classroom the last 15 minutes (Exit Tickets and put their supplies and materials away). Do Nows and Exit Tickets are mini assessments that we used to determine how well the scholars performed on a specific TEK/skill and, if a reteach is needed.

**Remain at Home If You're Feeling Unwell**
As we prioritize the health and safety of all our students, we want to remind you of the importance of keeping your child at home if they are feeling unwell. To help you navigate when to keep your child at home and when it's safe to return to school, we’ve attached two flyers (in English and Spanish) with specific scenarios and guidelines.
Please review these materials carefully to help us maintain a safe and healthy school environment for everyone. For more information, click here to visit our Health Services website.

For just $10, you can become a member and contribute to the many activities and events that benefit our students. Your involvement is invaluable, whether through volunteering your time, sharing your ideas, or helping to organize these events. Joining the PTO is a fantastic way to stay connected with your child's school life, meet other parents, and make a positive impact on the school community. We hope you consider becoming a part of this dynamic and supportive group!
Volunteers Needed
Twin Creeks Middle School is excited to announce that we are in need of enthusiastic volunteers to support our various programs and activities throughout the school year. Whether you have a few hours to spare or can commit to regular involvement, your contribution will make a significant impact on our students' experiences. To ensure a smooth and organized process, all prospective volunteers must complete a registration or renewal of their volunteer registration. This step is essential for maintaining a safe and effective environment for everyone involved. Please visit this link https://www.springisd.org/o/sisd/page/volunteers-in-public-schools for detailed instructions on how to register or renew your status. We look forward to welcoming you to our team and working together to create a vibrant and supportive school community!
