In this unit, students will focus on letter identification and letter-sound fluency, students are challenged to identify and make sound connections to letters within simple text. Concepts of print are taught through daily teacher modeled writing and reading, and as students read predictable books. School routines and classroom rules and procedures are taught as students practice modeled behaviors, as well as listening and turn taking skills. In this early stage of writing, students use a combination of thinking, sketching, and writing to tell a story.

Vocabulary: responsibility, respect

Letters and sounds: Vv, Ss, Zz, Jj

Topic 1

Students will be finishing up counting, reading, and writing numbers 1-5.

Topic 2

We will be moving on to Topic 2 this week and we will be practicing comparing and ordering numbers 0-5.

• Students will be able to understand the meaning and use the following words appropriately: more, greater, fewer, less, and same as. *Please work on using these words at home this can be a difficult concept for kindergartners.
• Students will be able to identify 1 or 2 more and fewer from a given number.

• The class with the most cards sold wins a pizza party from PTO!!!
• The card attached to the flyer sent home is NOT FREE!!! You can sell the one attached to the flyer if you want to but it will need to be returned or money turned in for it.
• IF YOU DO NOT PLAN ON SELLING THE CARDS PLEASE RETURN THE ENTIRE CARD AND ENVELOPE TO YOUR TEACHER WITH A NOTE STATING THAT YOU DO NOT PLAN ON SELLING THE CARDS.
