Woodbury Weekly Update for Families
November 8, 2024
Welcome to our weekly update! We are thrilled to keep you informed about the happenings at our school, celebrations & achievements and upcoming events, ensuring you're an active part of your students educational journey. In each update, you'll find some quick highlights of the past week and a preview of what's to come. Our hope is to foster a strong sense of community and collaboration between the school and our cherished families. Most weeks will be brief, but at times there is important information or updates that help support us in your involvement in our little school. Thank you for taking the time to read it!
A Peek at a Great Week
REMINDER: VETERAN'S DAY: WEAR RED, WHITE & BLUE on Monday!
We had a super fun-filled week! Our staff participated in underground spirit week and got some really strange looks from students and parents this week! We know that some of our outfits raised some eyebrows, but it also really showed how sweet and respectful our students are. Many politely inquired and some even complimented our choices. It was fun to keep the students guessing. We were able to flip it back on our teachers with "anything but a backpack" day so thank you to so many who helped Mrs. Kern pull it off! It created quite a few smiles and giggles to end the week.
November is all about gratitude and despite the day to day hustle and grind, we are reminded to stop and enjoy the moment and have a little fun too! We are incredibly thankful for our wonderfully supportive families. Thank you for all that you do!
We have breadmaking, parent teacher conferences and so much more over the course of the next couple of weeks as we wrap up November. Be sure to sign up for a conference with your child's teacher if you have not already.
Kindness Week: Kindness Week is this week November 11th-15th! Our school social work team has planned a dress up week and activities for students to participate in during this week. Details below!
More reminders...
Franklin Mall Food Project continues. See information below.
Honoring Our Veterans: If you have a special veteran who would like to attend our short ceremony they are very welcome to. It will take place from 2:00-2:30 p.m. at Woodbury School. Our ceremony typically includes: Presentation of Colors, Pledge of Allegiance, Moment of Silence, Introduction of Veterans in Attendance, Songs for Veteran's by the SHS Band.
Reminders:
Please be sure to call when your students are absent. Absences where we are unable to have any parent contact become unexcused. Additionally, anytime a student misses for an appointment, please be sure to ask for a note from your physician so that we are able to excuse the absence. Notifications were sent home to inform families of students with 5 or more absences as a quick heads up regardless of reasons for absences.
SCHOOL BOARD MEETING: On Tuesday, November 19th, we will be hosting the school board meeting. The meeting will be held in our multipurpose room at 7:00 PM. We would love you to join us as we get a chance to share our pride for our little school, all of the wonderful people who fill it, including our amazing families! If there are any parents/guardians who would be interested in sharing about your (and your students) positive experience here at Woodbury at the board meeting that evening, please reach out to Mrs. Kern.
Please check out the 2024 Fall Superintendent's Notes.
