Principal's Message

The warm winds are returning as we begin the final full week of Semester One. Just like the breeze, it’s incredible how quickly time has flown by.

With that, while our focus is on a strong finish to the semester, and as mentioned in the Chronicle from last week, many informational events are happening across the Division as we start planning for the fall. For our Grade 9 families who are transitioning to high school, we understand that this can be complex and at times overwhelming. Along with the Open Houses in the Division, I will also host a time here at Sherwood Heights in the large gym where I will answer any questions you may have. Stay tuned for a time to be determined.

This week is highlighted by our School Council meeting on Tuesday, January 21, starting at 6:00 p.m. in the library. The Oilers are playing, but at the time of writing, it looks like Connor McDavid might be suspended. Without the greatest player in the world playing, what better way to enjoy a Tuesday night than here at our School Council?

EIPS Junior High Honours

Applications for the 2025-26 EIPS Junior High Honours program will be accepted January 13-26. On January 13, the Division will send out a message and the link for the Junior High Honours program application form, through Permission Click, to all current grades 7 and 8 families. The Division will send a reminder message—only to those families who haven’t submitted a form—on January 22.

Are you interested in learning more about EIPS Advanced Placement (AP) program? You are invited to our AP Informational Night in Bev Facey’s Library on Thursday, January 23 at 6:00 pm. We will have testimonials from AP students, guidance from our AP Coordinator, and Administration to help answer questions and guide the discussion. Parents and junior high students welcome to attend.
