A Note From The Principal
Dear Families,
We’re excited to invite you to Family STEM Night on October 23 from 5pm-7pm! Join us for a fun-filled evening where you and your children can explore a variety of hands-on Makerspace activities that spark creativity and innovation.
It’s a great opportunity to meet and chat with your child's teachers and get to know some amazing STEM vendors who will be showcasing exciting resources and tools. Plus, don’t miss out on the chance to win awesome STEM prizes in our raffle! Pop on over to the library because the Book Fair will be open for families to purchase books!
We look forward to seeing you there for a night of learning, laughter, and discovery!
Bring a family dinner and enjoy it outside on our outdoor tables!
Spooky Book Fair is Here!
We are thrilled to host a "Spooky" themed Book Fair during the week of October 21st-25th.
1) In an effort to make this fair as secure and easy as possible for all our students, staff members, and parents, this will be a NO CASH book fair. We're asking parents to please set up a Scholastic eWallet account for their children HERE. It's easy to create an eWallet for your student. Simply add funds or invite family and friends to contribute. It provides a safe, cashless way for students to shop for their own books in person and provides a secure contactless check-out. Scholastic recommends using Chrome as your browser and creating the eWallet using a computer instead of your phone.
2) We'll be open Monday (10/21), Tuesday (10/22) and Thursday (10/24), from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Friday's hours are 8:00am to 1:00pm. Parents may purchase books using credit cards, debit cards, or eWallet accounts. Also, on Wednesday, October 23rd we'll close at 3:00pm, but then re-open from 5:30-7:00pm for our family night event. In addition, the Book Fair Family Night will overlap with STEM night, so there will be many fun activities for your children to participate in that evening. Kona Ice will be at Mills that night as well. It should be a wonderful evening for our Mills community!
3) All students will be coming to the Book Fair with their classes at a scheduled time during the week of October 21st -25th. We ask that if your child plans to purchase books at school, their eWallet account is set up by Monday, October 21st. To make shopping easier for your child, you can determine which items you'd like to purchase ahead of time by browsing the interactive book flyer HERE .
Please let me know if you have any questions. All Book Fair proceeds will benefit the library. Thank you for your help in making this a fun and successful event!

The Mills Mock Elections are Heating Up!
Election season has arrived at Mills Elementary, and our third through fifth grade Mountain Lions are diving into the exciting world of elections in the MakerSpace and the Library! They’ve been learning all about the voting process while proudly supporting their favorite ‘candydates’ from the Milk Chocolate Party, the Fruit Candy Party, and the Lollipop Party.
Students are independently creating vibrant election posters that are displayed around campus and wearing their MakerSpace election buttons to show their support for their candidates and voter engagement. The energy is contagious as they come up with catchy chants for their favorites and intriguing write-in candidates, building excitement for the big vote on Monday, November 4th!
After the Spooky Book Fair, our younger Mountain Lions in Kindergarten through 2nd grade will join in on the fun in MakerSpace, starting their own mock election journey. Meanwhile, our third through fifth graders will continue their exploration of the election process in the library, with a special emphasis on social emotional learning. It’s an amazing time for students to learn, create, and celebrate democracy together!
