Principal's Message
Greetings,
Wow! We’ve made it to the end of first semester. It continues to amaze me how fast this school year is flying by. Students have a five day weekend this weekend as we observe Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday on Monday, teachers have a work day on Tuesday and professional learning on Wednesday. We all have a little bit of time to reset prior to beginning the second semester and four brand new classes.
Second semester begins on Thursday, January 18. As we reset, I’d like to remind students and families of a few expectations and keys to success:
School begins promptly at 7:30.
Students are expected to be in their seats ready to learn at 7:30.
We will begin issuing detentions to students who are late to school more than 3 times.
Timeliness between classes is essential.
Students have 5 minutes, with a warning bell at 4 minutes, to get to their next class on time.
Cell phones should be turned off and out of sight during every class period.
Cell phones are a major distraction to student learning.
Engage in class.
Regular attendance and participation in class are keys to success.
Communicate with teachers.
Inform teachers of individual student needs so that they can better support you.
In addition to beginning a new semester, all students should be completing their course selections for the 2024 - 2025 school year. Please continue to have conversations with your student about selecting the appropriate courses for your individual student and their unique learning pathway. Completed registration sheets are due via Schoology on January 22nd.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend!
Sincerely,
Lisa Smith

Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) and Frederick Community College (FCC) invite you to attend one of our Early College Information Nights to learn about the FCPS-FCC Early College program:

Wednesday, February 21, 2024 (in-person, at FCC)
