Firefly Families,
This week at Alyssa Ferguson was one for the books—full of energy, celebration and moments that reminded us why we do what we do. The building buzzed with excitement as we kicked off our STAAR spirit days, dressing up and coming together to cheer on our Fireflies with encouragement and pride.
On Thursday, our youngest learners took center stage as we celebrated the Week of the Young Child. Pre-K students lit up the halls with smiles during the school-wide parade, proudly marching and waving as students and staff lined the halls to cheer them on. It was a beautiful reminder of the joy that early learning brings to a school community.
During the parade, we paused to show our gratitude and appreciation for someone very special—Mr. Blasdell. In honor of Assistant Principal Appreciation Week, we surprised him with cheers, chanting, smiles and a basket of his favorites to recognize the heart he brings to our campus every single day.
Thursday evening, we celebrating Ms. Christine Chowdhury, our incredible Teacher of the Year, at the District banquet. Watching her be honored for her dedication and impact reminded us all of the power of passionate teaching and the difference educators can make.
We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our amazing community for the delicious and thoughtful multicultural luncheon. The variety of dishes, rich with culture and love, made our staff feel so appreciated and brought us all together in the most meaningful way. Your generosity and support mean the world to us.
Have an amazing weekend!
Filled with Firefly Pride,
Carla

Parent Looking Ahead
As we approach the end of this academic year, planning is already underway for next year. One of the most important tasks in preparing for the next school year is creating an effective learning environment for every child. This requires a great amount of time and thoughtful consideration of each child’s individual needs. We are committed to creating well-balanced groups that are, by intention, designed to ensure the success of every child.
Our process for creating classes each year involves the grade level and special program teachers, our counselors and specialists, and the campus principals. In addition, we encourage parents to provide a special “lens” into their child’s learning needs. Although completing this form is not a requirement, we appreciate your input.
Please complete this survey (one per student) to share your thoughts regarding your child's academic strengths and areas for growth, as well as any social, emotional or physical needs that you believe will help in creating a successful year of learning. Although it is not feasible to meet with parents to discuss class placements, all information shared will be reviewed and considered when formulating class lists. Class assignments will be available during our Meet and Greet in August.
Special Note: Requests including specific teachers or placement with specific students will not be considered. All information will be reviewed and considered when formulating class lists.
We look forward to partnering with our families to promote a healthy and productive learning environment for every Firefly student!

News from Nurse Peluse
To ensure the health of our school community, please keep your child home if they are experiencing symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, severe cough, or any other signs of illness. A fever is anything above 100 degrees.
Contact Nurse Peluse if you have any questions about when your student can return to school. If you are unsure whether to send your child to school, most likely the student should stay home to rest and recover.
Please consult your child's healthcare provider for specific guidance regarding their health concerns. With flu season being in full effect, we must prioritize the health of all students and staff.
