Health Connection

This month the focus will be on preventative care and what we can do to help keep ourselves and our family members healthy and happy for years to come.

When was the last time you went to the doctor? If it has been a little too long, seize the day and put your health first. Make it a priority to schedule a medical, mental health, dental and/or vision appointment.

This month, use the following checklist to get those preventive visits done. Once you have completed the items that are applicable to you (beginning 7/1/22), upload your checklist below by 4/30/2023 for a chance to win a wellness prize.

I would like to congratulate the 197 members across 29 teams for participating in the Live Healthy Iowa 10 Week Challenge. This challenge ran from January 9 - March 17 and tracked average activity minutes and percent weight loss for each team. Below are the final standings.

Bike/Walking Trails:

City Parks:

Sioux City offers 58 beautiful public parks for you to enjoy. Check out a list here.

Disc Golf:

Sioux City offers 3 disc golf courses. All courses are FREE and open to the public during regular park hours. Check out Courses here.

Miniature Golf:

Bring your own golf ball and club to Riverside park next to the Miracle League Baseball Diamond.

Dog Park:

Bacon Creek Dog Park is Sioux City's only Off-Leash Dog Park. There are separate, fenced-in areas for small and big dogs. Bring your dog to run off leash and train them to socialize with other pets! Click here for more information.

County Parks:

Siouxland offers a number of county parks with opportunities to explore the Loess Hills. Click here for more park information.

State Park:

Stone State Park is an urban wildlife sanctuary on the edge of Sioux City. Visitors can explore the natural history of the park by walking its many miles of trails, looking for wildlife and birds, or at the nearby Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center. Click here for more park information.

Mark your calendars, the Urban Scramble is BACK!

Think the "Amazing Race" but in Sioux City. This new style of racing will test your endurance in a fun way that isn't just a traditional 5k or bike ride.

- Two person teams (Men's, Women's, Co-Ed)
- Biking, running, and mystery challenges
- Wayfinding the best path around town
- After parties, and prizes!
