Jubliee 2025
The Holy Father has announced that 2025 will be a Jubilee Year, something which happens every 25 years. The theme for Jubilee 2025 is “Pilgrims of Hope,” and it will be a year of hope for a world suffering the impacts of war, the ongoing effects of COVID-19 pandemic, and the climate crisis. The Jubilee Year began in Rome on the vigil of the Solemnity of the Lord’s Nativity Christmas (December 24, 2024), and in the dioceses throughout the world on the Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph (December 29, 2024). Jubilee 2025 will conclude in dioceses throughout the world on the Feast of the Holy Family (December 28, 2025) and in Rome on the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord (January 6, 2026). Jubilee Pilgrimage Opportunity from Archdiocese of NY
June 29 – July 9, 2025
Spiritual Director: Fr. Matthew MacDonald
Group Leader: Pjeter Nilaj
The Youth & Young Adult Ministry & the University Apostolate Office in the Archdiocese of New York are planning a Jubilee Year pilgrimage for young adults. Pilgrims will take in Rome (with its iconic sites, fountains, and four Major Basilicas), and attend the Papal Audience with the Holy Father. Pilgrims will also walk in the footsteps of St. Padre Pio and St. Francis of Assisi. There will be time to view the Eucharistic Miracle of Lanciano. From Assisi, pilgrims will then make their way to Florence – recognized as the “Cradle of the Renaissance”. They will visit the marvelous Churches, buildings, and museums that make it so unique, as well as the historical relics and artistic masterpieces by the greatest masters! The pilgrimage finishes with Venice – the “City Paved in Water”, famous for its Basilica, palazzi, ancient bridges, monuments, and piazza’s! For more information, click the button below.
Young Adult Ministry Quick Tip
Talking the Mass Slow
Talk to your priest and find an evening to celebrate a Mass together as a community. At this Mass, have the priest take pauses at appropriate points and talk about what is going on in the Mass. Have him explain the symbolism of history of what is going on to invite the community into a greater appreciation and understanding of the actions and their participation in them. Allow the space to be more interactive than we would normally see at Mass. It can be a great space to ask questions and allow folks to go deeper in the meaning of the Mass. Do set a boundary around the Eucharistic Prayer, however. It’s good to maintain the sanctity of the moment. Instead, take time to explain it before and after the prayer. Finally, end with some fellowship time and food to allow folks to share what they heard and learned. Read more young adult ministry quick tips by visiting Young Adult Ministry in a Box below.
