Parsons Pirate Update

Hello Parsons Family,

I had the opportunity to attend a conference this week with over 600 other principals in the state. It was amazing to meet other principals and share all of the fantastic things that are happening at our school! I even sat by someone that was very excited to talk about JPs Waterfront! We should be proud of the positive reputation of Parsons and GSD.

This week is one of the highlights of the year! Get ready to get goosebumps, bring the tissues, and cheer on your babies at the Parsons Christmas Concert. It is a must see event! Also, if you are able to join Parsons at the Christmas Parade, please come! I love this event but have to miss this year due to a family birthday event. All are welcome so come show off your Parsons pride and Christmas spirit!

Our annual Holiday Concert will take place on December 11th at Carlson High School auditorium. Our K-2 concert starts at 6:00 and 3-5 concert starts at 7:15. Please stay until the end of the performance.

For the grand finale, the 5th graders will remain on the stage, 4th graders will fill in on either side of the stage and 3rd graders will fill in down the center aisle. Afterwards, students will return to the rooms to be picked up by parents.

We had an improvement in attendance from October to November. In October, 34% of students had perfect attendance. In November, 39% of students had perfect attendance. Keep it up families!

Santa's Secret Shop will be open December 17th, December 18th, and the morning of December 19th. We will need lots of volunteers. Stay tuned for more information.

The PTO meeting is cancelled for December due to our many family events. We will meet January 14th at 6:00.

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports...

The purpose of PBIS is to establish a climate in which appropriate behaviors are the norm.

Our school hours are from 8:38am-3:33 pm. Our school doors will open at 8:33 am. Our half day hours are 8:38 am-11:55 am. The first day of school is a half day and dismissal will be 11:55. Our front doors will open at 8:38 for students to enter the building. School dismissal is staggered so younger grades will come out first.

Kindergarten: 11:45 am-12:10 pm

1st grade: 11:55 am-12:20 pm

2nd grade: 12:05 pm-12:30 pm

3rd grade: 12:15 pm-12:40 pm

4th grade: 12:25 pm-12:50 pm

5th grade: 12:35 pm-1:00 pm

Although we love to have visitors, we remain committed to your children’s safety. Students must enter the building themselves in the morning. Parents and guests must always check in the front office.

As we start to have volunteers in the classroom, please remember that you must have a background check prior to your volunteer date. You can fill out the form and bring a copy of your license to Ms. Veronica. Once approved, you may volunteer. We do background checks twice a year. If you have a felony, you may not volunteer for WatchDogs, field trips, or volunteer in the classroom.
