Xello Career Exploration
Each year, Mr. Garcia works with all students to further develop their Educational Development Plans (EDP) that students began in middle school. In order to do so, we utilize Xello. Recently, Mr. Garcia worked with the 10th grade students on their EDPs.
According to Xello.world, "At the end of 2018, Michigan launched a new Career Development Model (CDM), which is designed to provide the state’s K–12 students with critical knowledge and skills needed to make successful career decisions and foster lifelong learning." They continued to state, "Xello has been working closely with the Michigan Department of Education to ensure our program aligns with many of the requirements set out in the new career development model." "Three of the main components of the CDM that can be completed in Xello are: A student’s Educational Development Plan (EDP) that many of you are familiar with, A student’s Talent Portfolio (a new component!) and A student’s 4-year plan."
Thank you PCC!
The Parent Community Club is always planning events and activities to support the students and staff at the IAM. With what has become a bit of an annual tradition, the brought in mini pies for the students to celebrate Pi Day!
"Pi Day is celebrated every year on the fourteenth of March around the world, and although we’re not celebrating actual pies, there can be pies involved in the celebration. Pi is used to represent a mathematical constant. Not only is it the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, but it’s also the 16th letter in the Greek alphabet (π). With Pi Day quickly approaching, here are ten ways students can celebrate its arrival." (Reference: Pi Day | Celebrate Mathematics on March 14th)
Colllege Night
Earlier this month, Mr. Garcia hosted college night for parents/guardians of 11th grade students. Please find below a link to the presentation that he shared. If you were not able to attend, please let Mr. Garcia know if you have any questions on your student's college planning journey!
Sophomore Research Field Trip to the University of Detroit Mercy
The History Department organized a field trip to the University of Detroit Mercy so students could begin the research and writing process for the IB History Internal Assessment.
