Message from Headteacher
Dear alumni,
This has been another action-packed year at St Bonaventure's
and I am happy to tell you that we continue to have many success stories. We are delighted to be under 16's National Champions in Basketball, the 6th Form football team won their league in an undefeated season whilst various other year group sports teams have finals in the next few weeks.
Other success stories include the national Maths Challenge, fundraising efforts and charity works.
We are fast approaching our first reunion event, St. Bon's Reconnect on the 11th of July 2024. An opportunity to bring our alumni, current and past teachers together to celebrate you all. We would love to see you all there so please do book your place!
Mr McCormack, Headteacher

ALUMNI EVENTS
Mizen Foundation Visit
Margaret and Jimmy Mizen visited and shared their story of forgiveness following the loss of their son with our Year 11 students.
This was an impactful message on the power of forgiveness and its ability to breed hope.
Bobby Seagull Visit
Bobby Seagull visited our school last term and shared his journey and advice with our students about consistency and discipline.
It is always great to have our Bon's Boys return and inspire our students.
Sue Hedges Visit
Sue Hedges from the Ricky Hayden Memorial donated an emergency bleeding control kit from the Daniel Baird Foundation.
This vital first aid resource is available alongside our defibrillators to the local community in an emergency. Sue works hard to ensure as many businesses and organisations as possible have bleed kits available.
SIR DAVID AMESS STATUE
A statue of our alumnus David Amess was unveiled on the Southend seafront. He was stabbed in October 2021 while meeting constituents at a church.
We celebrate and honour the memory of David Ammes, his achievements and his service to his community.
Job Opportunities
St Bonaventure’s School stands out as a beacon of excellence in East London, where every member of staff is valued highly and given the opportunity to develop and grow. At the heart of our ethos lies a commitment to fostering a genuinely supportive and empowering environment for all, regardless of background or faith.
Volunteer with CARITAS
The Caritas Volunteer Service aims to make voluntary service as easy as possible in the Diocese of Brentwood.
We do this by allowing charities, parishes and local outreach projects to make volunteering opportunities available on our website, which people who want to volunteer can then apply for.
In addition, we run events to help people get started in volunteering and to support active volunteers. The service is open to members of all faiths and none.
ALUMNI FUND
A big thank you to our regular donors and one-time contributors for their support in helping us raise £5000 for the alumni fund.
Your generosity has helped us to provide essentials such as shoes, Chromebooks, uniforms, and travel assistance for students who moved out of the borough. Additionally, we have been able to offer food and shopping vouchers to those in need.
We deeply appreciate your continued commitment. Thank you for partnering with us to make a positive impact within our community.
FUTURE FIRST - ALUMNI VISITS
We know we have successful alumni in a wide range of fields, and it would be great to show the diversity of careers of our alumni, so please do sign up.
We are also looking to hear from more of our female alumni who are interested in coming in to inspire and work with our 6th form girls.
