A Note from the Superintendent
Operating schools during the COVID-19 pandemic has provided us many opportunities to learn. We have become more flexible, more patient and more compassionate. We have learned that the pandemic dictates many of our operating strategies while state agencies provide the requirements that we must implement in order to stay open safely.
Our top priority continues to be maintaining in person instruction for our students. This month many of our employees are faced with a tough decision. The Governors vaccination mandate deadline is October 18, 2021 The choice that our employees must make is to follow the mandate or no longer be able to work in our schools. Employees who make the choice to comply with the mandate must be fully vaccinated by October 18, 2021 or file an exception. There are two types of exceptions under the Governor’s mandate. They are Religious or medical. The OHA FAQ document on the vaccination requirements is available by CLICKING HERE. In order to apply for an exception, the employee must complete the OHA Exception forms that are available here for your perusal Medical Exception or Religious Exception. All verification of vaccination information and exception forms must be completed and filed in the KFCS HR Department by September 20th.
We will continue to do whatever it takes to provide in person instruction for our students and to keep a student-centered focus.
Every student, every day, whatever it takes!
Stay Safe;
Keith A. Brown

COVID-19 Updates
Ready Schools Safe Learners Resiliency Framework
Recently, Governor Brown issued an update to the Ready Schools Safe Learners Resiliency Framework regarding wearing masks outside when distancing of 6 feet cannot consistently be maintained.
The principals will work with their staff to design outside activities (recess) in a manner that will provide the structure needed to foster 6-foot social distancing opportunities so students can get outside for fresh air without being required to wear a mask. If the logistics of providing a recess without required masks is not possible at their school, principals are encouraged to have teachers design a schedule so their students can get outside for a mask break several times during the day.
Note: Even if a 6-foot distance is maintained during these activities, mask wearing is an option for those who choose to wear them outside.
