We celebrated IT Professionals Day!
Levelland has the best Informational Technology Team around! Today, we celebrate them last week on IT Professionals Day! Technology has practically advanced at the speed of light, and our computer gurus are nothing less than essential to our success as educators. They are network engineers, system administrators, informational database admins, ethical hackers, connectors, problem solvers and repairers, teachers, and they make sure our computer systems run smoothly. If you see one of our IT professionals, give them a pat on the back, buy them a cup of coffee, or say, “Thanks for being there all year long!”

English I writing
LHS English I students were caught on a picture walk last week. Our English teachers #expectexcellence and challenged them to find certain photos and write descriptively for each one. They had to write well enough to describe each person, place or thing so that a picture is formed in the reader's mind. Students are practicing this skill because they are moving into symbolism. They will soon use words, images, or other elements to represent something beyond their literal meaning. Symbolism is a common figure of speech in writing and can be found in fiction, poetry, & theater. One student was overheard saying, "This actually makes me feel smart!" We thank Mrs. Northcutt and Ms. Spence for reaching our kids on a deeper level!
Web Design Class
Often, people do not realize all the work involved in creating a functional website. These students in Mr. Hill's LHS Web Design Class were engaged in the first steps of learning to create well-organized and easy-to-use navigational systems for a website. Mr. Hill #expectsexcellence and by the end of the year, these students will be able to create visually appealing and functional websites. Man, this skill will certainly come in handy after high school graduation to earn a job or start a company! Great job, Mr. Hill!
Award Winning Yearbook
LHS is so proud to announce that the 2024 Levelland High School yearbook, advised by Kelly Buckner, was selected to be in the Walsworth Gallery of Excellence. Don Walsworth, president of Walsworth Publishing says, “The El Lobo is an example of a yearbook at its very best. You were able to not only capture the essence of your school year, but you also equipped your students with valuable life and career skills along the way. Your hard work has earned your book a place in our Gallery of Excellence -a prestigious honor reserved for the highest caliber yearbooks we print.” Congratulations to Ms. Buckner and the Yearbook Class!
LOC Gain New Skills for Life
Our LHS LOC students have been getting on-the-job training while working at the Salvation Army. LHS Life Skills Coordinator Kristy Scoggins #expectsexcellence and says, "They are learning how to run a retail business while sorting clothes and other items, hanging and folding clothes, cleaning items before putting them out for purchase, and pricing techniques. We send out a huge thank you to the Salvation Army for helping train our students so they will gain skills needed for success after high school!"
LMS Art #ExpectsExcellence and Gets It!
We always love seeing what our fine arts classes are doing. Today is no exception as LMS always #expectsexcellence. Levelland ISD congratulates these artists on a job well done!

Sensory Writing in English II
LHS English II students were found on a sensory walk. Mrs. Spies and Mrs. Wuerflein #expectexcellence and took their students on a walk to help them connect with what was around them. Then, they were challenged to use their five senses to complete a "sensory writing." Sensory writing, or sensory details, is a writing technique that uses the five senses to help readers visualize and experience what's happening in a story, making them feel like they are part of it. It was a beautiful, fresh, bright, hot day that got students buzzing quietly about their colorful, spicy writing! Thanks, LHS Mrs. Spies & Wuerflein for giving your students background knowledge to work with! #LevellandISD
DOT Day!
Each year Capitol Elementary celebrates DOT Day. Capitol Counselor Barbara Utley hosts the event after students learn about having self-esteem, perseverance, and creativity. In the book The Dot by Peter H Reynolds, children learn that their creativity can take off with a single dot. Mrs. Utley teaches that even though something might be hard, the first step is "trying," and she helps students understand that it is okay to "fail." Students enjoyed the book, creating dots, dressing in dots, and making their mark today! Thank you, Mrs. Utley, for boosting courage!
LHS Choir Keeps LHS & Levelland Beautiful
The LHS Choir is Keeping Levelland Beautiful. The choir volunteers participated in a community service and walked the HS campus to pick up litter. This will be a monthly volunteer opportunity for choir members. Choir Director Josh Ballard says, "We had fun, and it felt nice to do something nice!"
Sports!
Thank you to everyone
who dressed in their camo and helped our Lobos get the "W"!
Thank you HCCU!
The Athletic Booster Club President Josh Randol shares that they had some special guests at their last Booster Club meeting. HCCU showed up with a $1,900 donation to the Levelland Athletic Booster Club. If that wasn't enough, HCCU also brought with them 5 HTeaO gift cards to give away! They feel so blessed to have folks like this and others in their corner. How were they able to do this? When you sign up for a new account and you tell them you are a member of the Booster Club, they donate back $25 to the club. On record, they had 76 members under the Booster Club. If you haven't already, go support our sponsors by opening up an HCCU account!
