Principal's Message
Dear Edison Families,
We are truly fortunate to learn and play within such a close knit community. Here at Edison, we’ve worked hand in hand with our families to continue to instill our core pillars of respect, responsibility and being a person of integrity. Our pathways to success are a hallmark of the work we do here and ensuring all of our Bobcats are also socially aware-- it’s the Edison way.
This social awareness allows kids to feel compassion for others—even when their background and culture may be different. It’s important for kids to see all people as equal and to accept and recognize the strengths of people of all races, ethnic groups, religions and abilities. Here are a few ways to guide your child:
Remember that you teach by example. Have you formed opinions about people based on their color, religion or culture? If so, your child may, too.
Talk about your family background. Unless you are a Native American, someone in your family came here from another country. Remind your child that at some point, everyone has struggled to fit in.
Let your child know it’s never okay to judge, insult or treat someone badly because of their appearance or background.
Talk about prejudice and stereotypes. Help your children recognize these behaviors when they see them.
Explain that rules and laws have not always treated everyone fairly, and that we are trying to change that.
Welcome people of many backgrounds into your family’s life. Encourage your child to do the same.
As a district we have taken great strides to incorporate and adopt a philosophy that fosters equity, diversity, and inclusion across the Ontario Montclair School District. Thank you for your partnership!
As always, I look forward to hearing from you. You are always welcome to call and connect with me. Stay safe, and stay #EdisonStrong!

Parent Faculty Organization (PFO) Membership Drive
The PFO membership drive kicks off on Monday, September 13 and runs through September 24 -- just think, for the price of a cup of coffee you can make a huge impact for our kids -- be sure to become a member this month! Your child will bring home a membership form this week.
As a reminder, all money raised is used to provide student field trips, assemblies, incentives for student achievements, intramural sports and instructional materials for our school. Each year, we have been able to provide every classroom with an educational field trip, brought in character education and enrichment assemblies for our students, and provided additional instructional supplies for our classrooms!
Be sure to become a member of this amazing group and support your child this year. For questions, please contact our current President, Rene Beltran, at beltrene@hotmail.com.

Students Presenting Symptoms at Home
In an effort to maintain a healthy school environment and to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we ask that all parents screen their child for COVID-19 symptoms each morning before they send them to school, and keep them at home if they are sick using our Daily Checklist for Families.
This shared responsibility is critical to our ability to keep everyone safe, healthy and attending in person each day.
Please report your child’s illness with details of all symptoms to our health office at 909-984-5618. Our Health Office will follow up on all students that are at home with COVID-19 symptoms.
