Glenn Public School Eagle Post
May 2025
Superintendent's Nest
Spring has arrived! Welcome to May, one of the most beautiful months of the year!
I would like to congratulate the Outstanding People for Education winners this year. Barb Null is the Substitute Special Education teacher again this year. She has dedicated over 17 years to education here at Glenn! Victoria Willey is the Before & After School Coordinator in her second year at Glenn. Michael Westra is our Maintenance staff member along with a Total Trek Quest coach . They all received a certificate and will be honored at a recognition dinner in Allegan this month along with the other winners from other Allegan County school districts. Congratulations also are in order for our other nominees: Amy Bain, Marissa Larabel, Jenn Cook, Diana Auer, and Angela Parkhill.
May 5th- 9th is National Teacher Appreciation week. At Glenn School, we take this time to appreciate all the staff members who help sustain this 171-year-old, oldest continuously operating rural school in Michigan! We will recognize the staff members in different ways each day throughout the week in coordination with the PTC. The PTC is accepting donations towards their gifts.
We will once again be hosting a community CPR/First Aid class on Tuesday, May 13th at 5:30 pm in the multi-purpose room for $25.00. This is through the American Heart Association Heartsaver program. We will offer a FREE dinner and childcare during the training. Please RSVP by May 9th to jamie.walle@glenn.school or 269-512-7977.
Our Giving Tree this month will be accepting donations of cereal to donate to Ladders of Hope Food Pantry in Fennville while working with Allegan County Community Foundation to raise funds to purchase cereal for other food pantries in Allegan County. Feel free to send in cereal all month long to place under The Giving Tree or drop off Monday-Friday 7:00am-5:30pm. Monetary donations are also accepted.
We will be hosting a Playground Fundraiser at Fenn Valley Vineyards on Sunday, May 18th. Tickets are still available for $60.00 each which includes a buffet dinner and 2 beverages. We are also looking for Silent Auction donations and Table Sponsors. We are hoping to raise $72,000.00 towards a new playground. You can pay for tickets or donate via PayPal or cash/check in the school office.
Enjoy all the sights and scents of the season!
Sincerely,
Jamie Walle
