Community Works
You may have noticed some construction taking place near the track shed in the past few weeks. The former building has been removed and is being rebuilt by the Community Works Class and dedicated Rotary Club Volunteer Jack Miller. This project has highlighted the collaborative spirit within our school and the greater Hood River community. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of all involved, significant progress has been made. If all goes well, the new track shed will be available for use by the end of the school year! Whether you're a student, parent, faculty, or community member, your encouragement and enthusiasm play a crucial role in fostering a culture of collaboration at HRVHS. Thanks again to the Community Works Crew, The Rotary Club of Hood River, Jack Miller and Jim and Mary Patterson!
Art Department
We have a new mural in town, the Down Manner Mural. This project is a work of art; the HRV Integrated Arts and Communication class has teamed up with local artist Alison Bell Fox to complete it. As the classroom teacher, Carol Birdsell has worked hard to collaborate with artists in our community to enhance the experiences and education of our students.
We’d love to give a big shoutout to all the students who worked on this project and helped bring beauty to our community. Thank you to our larger HRCSD community for your continued support of our programming.

Hood River Valley High School Wins!
Hood River Valley High School is the first school in the Columbia Gorge Region to participate in the student led, project based, upstream suicide prevention program called Sources of Strength. This was their first year and they accomplished so much. From a video about how "you matter" to a lunch time raffle getting the word out about the school program and mental health awareness.
It's exciting to announce that they are one of the Sources of Strength Peer Advisor winners this year! They were awarded $1,000 to go to future projects and will be recognized at the virtual Showcase on May 23rd from 4:00-5:00.
The goal is for many more schools in the Gorge to get a Sources of Strength program going at their school next year. If you're interested in this program please email aparrott@cgesd.k12.or.us
