Happy Fall, Just a reminder the monthly newsletters will come out towards the end of each month and foreshadow events for the next month. I have been able to spend some time recently in the 4K classrooms, and your children are adjusting wonderfully to the routines of 4K. As you may know, our 4K classrooms are set up with various interest areas, toys, and materials throughout the room. I enjoy being in the classroom and getting to see all the wonderful things going on.

Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for November 11-22. Your student's 4K teacher will share their progress over the past two months. This is a great time of year to discuss any questions you have about your child and to learn about their time in their 4K classroom.

Your student's first trimester report card was available for viewing in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal starting on November 14th, at 8:00am. You should have received directions on how to access via email, Friday morning. Here is the letter.

Looking for some new activities to do with your 4K student? Each month you will receive a calendar with optional daily activities for families, created by our own 4K teachers. These calendars are posted on our website. Please check out our November calendar for some fun activities you may want to try with your child next month. Of course, there’s still a few days left in this month, so please see our October calendar if you missed it earlier. You can also find calendars on our website.

Each month, we will share the Helping Children Learn Newsletter with you. This newsletter is filled with parenting tips, fun activities to do with your child, and helpful resources. We have the newsletter available on our website in both English and Spanish. Please check it out! The current month and previous months can be found on the 4K website

Throughout the year students will be working with the Second Step Curriculum that teaches our students social and emotional skills for our youngest learners. I will be attaching parent home links that let you know what your child is learning in the classroom. Teachers will also be sending home links to the home links. Please know that not all classrooms will be teaching the same lesson at the same time.

When you read a book with your child, it can be very enjoyable to simply read it from start to finish. Another way to enjoy a book is reading it in an interactive way, where you may stop periodically to engage your child. The video linked below provides an example of an interactive read aloud with an early childhood learner. Notice the strategies she uses to make storytime fun and engaging! To learn more, please view this short, 7-minute video, Making Storytime Fun & Engaging, which was produced by our Cooperative Educational Service Agency (CESA 2).

We are excited to present to you a new method of reporting student absences in just a few easy steps. Effective immediately, parents and guardians can now use the Absence Request tool in the Campus Portal of Infinite Campus to submit an absence request for one or all student(s) to inform the school office in advance when their student is not going to be in school.

This is available for all Waunakee Community School District schools and all grade levels, 4K-12th grade. This feature can also be done on a desktop computer and a mobile device.

Fill out this English Form and Spanish form to sign up for a Waunakee Public Library Card! Once we have your response, we'll mail the card to you and you'll be able to place holds or visit the library to check out books!

Waunakee 4K follows the same calendar as the K-12 students in the Waunakee Community School District. You can access it on our school website.
