Longacre Weekly News
November 16, 2020
Dear Longacre Families,
As we approach the end of the first trimester, our staff has been discussing ways to keep students engaged as well as creating more opportunities for them to socialize with each other. Our Positive Behavior Intervention Support Team (PBIS) will meet this week to build off of the ideas our staff has generated. We remain focused on the social emotional well-being of our students and are looking forward to offering school-wide activities for students to participate in.
Our PTA continues to support our efforts in keeping students connected to our school community and more ideas will be discussed at our virtual PTA meeting this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. We look forward to having you join us if you schedule allows. Here is the link to the meeting: https://meet.google.com/nqo-akfc-wsd
If you were not able to pick up your child's instructional materials last Friday, feel free to come to the main office Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. Please ring the door bell and Mrs. Crager or Mrs. Pallozzi will assist you. As always, don't hesitate to contact me at rhonda.henry@fpsk12.net or call the main office at 248-489-3733 should you have any questions.
With Longacre Pride,
Rhonda Henry
Principal

What are you thankful for leopards?
Over the next couple weeks we want you to think about what you are thankful for at Longacre. Students can write a note, draw a picture, write a poem - whatever way they choose to tell us what they are grateful for at Longacre. Please take a picture and submit to our SpotsGiving sharefile https://photos.app.goo.gl/nhU2iDfxAfRSL1d16 by Friday November 20th. We will be creating a video with all of the students' thankfulness to share before Thanksgiving break.
Farmington Area Goodfellows Canned Food Drive- November 2-24, 2020
In order to collect canned goods this year for the Goodfellows Canned Food Drive, bins have been set up outside each of our elementary schools, as well as at Farmington and Farmington Hills City Halls, the Costick Center, and the downtown Farmington Library. In addition, two large trucks are parked outside of both Farmington and North Farmington High School. Longacre's bin is outside of the main office.
Please help us to fill these bins and trucks with canned goods and non perishable food items to support our fellow community members during the holiday season. Please remember to check the dates on your donated items as we cannot accept expired products.
EasyCBM and NWEA Update
This fall, Farmington Public Schools continued its use of EasyCBM in Kindergarten and NWEA’s MAP Growth Assessment in Grades 1-9 as part of our assessment plan. These assessments help gauge each student’s instructional level and monitor student growth throughout the year. These assessments also ensured our compliance with Public Act 149 which requires districts to administer a benchmark assessment and progress monitor reading and math performance as part of its COVID-19 Extended Learning Plan.
Grades 1-9 student reports for NWEA MAP Growth are available in MiStar. These reports can be accessed using the following directions:
Log into MiStar Parent Portal
Select student
Documents (see image at right)
Click on either the Doc image or Upload Documents (see image below)
Grade K student reports for EasyCBM are being mailed home
To help you understand the reports, we have prepared the following information sheets.
No single data point or assessment type provides a complete picture of a child’s achievement. Farmington Public Schools uses multiple data points to support instructional planning as we support students in deepening their understanding of literacy and mathematics.
Thank you for partnering with use during this time! If you have any questions about your student’s report, feel free to reach out to your student’s teacher.
***Free and Reduced Meal Application for 2020-2021***
If you have not filled out an online Free and Reduced Meal Program application for this school year, we urge you to do so as soon as possible. Although your meals are free at this time, many district funding programs rely on the number of students that qualify for the Free and Reduced Meal Program. So if you have not done so already, we encourage families to fill out the online Free and Reduced Meal Program application for the 2020-2021 school year. Remember, a new application is required to be completed at the beginning of every school year. For the online Free and Reduced Meal application process, go to: https://www.lunchapp.com/ .
Longacre Curbside pickup of Media Center materials
You're invited: curbside pickup of media center materials!
We are excited to share that we are now offering curbside pickup of media center materials for Longacre students.
The pick up window will be each Monday from 3 to 6 p.m.
Please fill out the following Google form by the evening of Thursday, November 12th, to ensure your items will be ready for you during our next pick-up window on Monday, November 16th from 3 to 6 p.m.
Link to form: https://forms.gle/xyDEiH3gPDJNdeB16
Materials may also be returned during the pickup window. However, we understand that students may need some time to find any books they've had since last March, so we are not requiring students to return all of their books in order to take new books. (This is a change from our normal circulation policy.)
We kindly ask that families wear masks, and practice social distancing during material pick up.
We are excited to offer this opportunity to our Longacre families!
If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Williams at acacia.williams@fpsk12.net
Happy Reading!
