WELCOME to the 24/25 school year! I hope all of the Cosmos Community has had a wonderful summer of relaxation and fun adventures! I am ready to see all of my Cosmos students and families back in the building again! In this edition of the Cosmos Community Newsletter, you will find all kinds of information to get you and your student(s) ready to BLAST OFF to the 24/25 school year!

***Ensuring the safety of all of our Cosmos staff, students and families is our #1 priority and with that in mind, starting Monday, August 19 will be Cosmos Independence Day.

Cosmos will walk themselves into the building and to their classrooms,

as we return to a closed campus during arrival and dismissal each day starting on this day.


Please be prepared to RAPTOR into the building for all events, activities, etc.

starting on this date also. Please remember to bring your photo ID into the building when visiting. We appreciate your understanding!***


If you have not yet scanned in your Driver's License for the 24/25 school year for our special events,

please come to the front office during business hours and we will get you all set up!

Bus students must register to ride and register on Smart Tag

ALL THINGS TRANSPORTATION

We encourage our Cosmos families to begin your usual mode of transportation starting the first day of school; however we recognize that this might be the first time you and your child have been on campus and we will work with families to make allowances for the first day of school. When there is a need to change transportation for your student(s) please call the front office at 512.570.7800 by 1:30pm to make all transportation changes for the day or week.


We will be dismissing 10 minutes early for the first eight days of school (Aug. 14-23)

to assist in familiarizing and improving our processes and procedures with


dismissal for our new to Camacho staff, students and families!

Leander ISD’s Transportation department has launched a new and improved website. The website includes content that features About Us, Bus Information, Frequently Asked Questions, Join Our Team, and more. Transportation asks campuses to update their Bus Information Links on their respective websites to the Bus Information link on Transportation’s website. For further information, please review Transportation’s formal communication and contact Tracie Franco if you have any questions.

SMART TAG for Bus Riders

Updates to the Leander ISD Bus System called SMART TAG:


  • What is a SMART Tag? click here for short video

    • Incorporates bus safety

    • Notification to guardian via text when the bus is 10-15 minutes away

    • Parents can view exact GPS location of bus

    • Students scan their SMART Tag upon entering the bus

    • Student scans their SMART Tag before exiting bus, bus driver checks to make sure it is an authorized guardian for both child and parents.

      • Schools can see the exact location of their buses while in route

The purpose of the Leander ISD volunteer program is to enrich the quality of education for the district’s students by providing opportunities for parents and community members to become actively involved in Leander ISD schools.

Anyone NEW to Leander ISD wishing to volunteer must complete a volunteer application and submit all required information to run a background check.

No food delivery services for student lunches or birthdays please

For the safety and security of our students, we are not allowing the use of food services such as Door Dash, GrubHub and Uber Eats to deliver food for students.

However, parents can bring their students’ a lunch from home or a store/restaurant lunch, and follow check-in procedures at the front office to get those special lunches to your students. Thank you for your understanding.

Clinic Medications

Does your child need an emergency medication such as an inhaler or epiPen? Please make sure you have given all appropriate forms to our clinic!

Front Office Info:

Remember to plan appointments accordingly 2:15 cut off time for the last student pick up.


In order to ensure that we are able to focus on getting 705 students home safely each and every day, we will be closing our front office from 2:35pm-3:00pm daily.

Transportation changes must be called in by 1:30pm to ensure your student receives the message.

Cosmos Cafe Lunch Visitors

To enjoy lunch with your student(s) you may either bring in lunch for you and your Cosmos or buy lunch from our cafeteria for a charge of $4, cash or check only please. You may eat with your student(s) in the cafeteria in the Cosmos Cafe area (round tables). Please make sure you sign in and out at the front office and that your visitors badge is visible at all times. Enjoy this special time with your Cosmos!



**Ice cream and other snacks are back and available for purchase at lunch! It is very exciting, however, purchasing these items creates an additional charge to your child's lunch account. Parents have the ability to set monetary limits or turn off "snack options" from your student's lunch account online. Please log into your students' Titan account to make these changes. Photo ID

Please Remember Your Photo ID

To ensure the safety of our students, staff and visitors, we will need to see a photo ID each time you enter the campus. Please remember to bring your photo ID into the building when visiting. We appreciate your understanding!

Attendance

Absence→ Parent notes can be submitted, via email, from the parent/guardian’s email address that is on file, camattandance@leanderisd.org , or hand delivered to the front office include dates and Student ID number. Phone calls are not accepted. Absent notes should be received within 2 days after the student returns to school.

PE with Coach G

On PE days wear closed toe shoes!


Please make sure your child wears tennis shoes on their PE days (see schedule for when their class has PE).

Tennis shoes need to be able to stay on the foot at all times preferably with Velcro or shoe laces.

No sandals, flip flops, crocs, boots, dress shoes are not recommended- student will still be required to participate.


Please ensure your student has a water bottle with a secured lid. NO Stanley cups will be allowed in the gym.
