Good afternoon Jags!

We are in week 5 and just finished our first week of Phase 1! It was great to have students back on campus, even if they were not traveling to all their classes. For the rest of our Jags, hoping to see more of you soon. All of this depends on everyone doing their part to stay safe and well during this time. We will be emailing more information regarding Phase 2 and 3 later this week.

Parents/Guardians, were we need your help is discussing with your child the expectations of being on campus. When on campus, students must wear their masks at all times except while sitting in the cafeteria/courtyard eating or when actively exercising. Students must maintain social distancing while on campus. By following these expectations, we will be able to provide a safe place for students to slowly return to on-campus school.

Our virtual Greenback Night Meet the Teacher is tomorrow, Tuesday, September 15. We are looking forward to CTJ parents/guardians joining our online PTSA Welcome Back meeting and going through the virtual Meet the Teacher.

Progress reports for the first three weeks are viewable on the Student/Family Access portals. Please continue to work hard and keep up with your work and attendance. When you have a question, please reach out to your teacher first as they can help you directly.

We would like to congratulate our August Teachers of the Month, Dr. Kandace Chapman and Mrs. Velisa Jewett! Dr. Chapman is in our Social Studies dept and has brought a lot of expertise to our campus with regards to Distance Learning. Mrs. Jewett, our yearbook and Jag News director, has been busy helping promote, create, and cover Johnson events like graduation, Meet the Jags, and distributing our award winning Yearbook! Thank you both!

During Phase 1 & 2, students will be in a single classroom, no more than 5 students per room, with 1 teacher. The following are requirements for each student.

1. You must bring your own device to work virtually in a synchronous time with each of your classes.
2. You must bring the power cord to keep your device charged.
3. Student must have earbuds or headphones to listen to their classes.
4. While sitting in the classroom, students will be expected to wear their mask except while eating in a socially distance atmosphere in the cafeteria or courtyard.
5. Students will go to the cafeteria for their lunchtime. Students may bring their own lunch or buy their lunch in the cafeteria from a limited menu. Seating will be socially distanced.
6. Students will be in one specific classroom all day on M-W-F and another specific classroom all day on Tu-Th. It is based on having the same lunchtime as their teacher.

Parents & Guardians, an email was sent our last Monday with information about the NEISD Student handbook. It is a virtual link. The attachment here is a copy of the letter and includes a link to electronically sign that you have received the electronic student handbook. If you have not signed off for your electronic student handbook, please do so.

If interested in our Future Business Leaders of America group and/or our Key Club, we have included links for the FBLA and Key Club membership posters. It is never too late to join!

Congrats to the Jaguar Boys 1 team that got off to a good start in the Fall Match Play season with a 6-0 victory over LEE this past week. The Jag Boys 2 team and both of the girls teams are in action this week. Go Jags!

Our CTJ Team Tennis starts their season tonight! They will be playing MacArthur at the Blossom Tennis Center starting at 4:30 PM. Go Jags!

Our volleyball team will have a scrimmage this Thursday. And then on Saturday, our volleyball teams will start the season and District play v Madison HS! All games are at the Madison HS gym with the freshmen starting at 9 AM, JV at 10 AM and our Varsity Jags playing at 11:30 AM! Go Lady Jags!

Good luck to cross country teams as they start their season in Boerne this Saturday. Varsity/JV boys and girls will be running at the Boerne meet! Good luck Jags!

Thank you to the CTJ JROTC and two of our band trumpet players for their part in Remembering and Honoring 9/11. We had a quiet ceremony but moving moment with the playing of Taps and posting of our colors at half-staff.
