Grade 3 - Ms. Visscher
- Memory Work: In The Bleak Midwinter (Verse 1) due Friday, November 29th.
- Bible: We continue to see how God keeps his promises through His covenant with Jacob and Joseph.
- Writing: How do we begin a narrative? How can we create interesting characters and settings for our readers?
- Reading: Once we complete the final chapter in our novel study, the students will be introduced to our new Book-in-a-Bag Project!
- Math: In math, we are building our geometry vocabulary. As well, we are gaining practice in sorting and identifying prisms.
- Socials: Last week, we were introduced to the term culture. This week, we’re focusing on Indigenous cultures, exploring their traditions and values, and comparing them with our own to build understanding.
- Art: Christmas cards for the seniors we plan to visit in December!
Grade 4A - Mr. Vandergugten

Grade 4B - Ms. Vantil
- Memory Work: Noel by Lauren Diagle (Verse 1 & Chorus) due this Friday, November 29
- Bible: This week in Bible, we will finish reading the story of David and Absalom, then move on to discuss David’s Census, Adonijah and his ploy to steal the throne, and end with David’s death.
- Math: This week in Math we will be moving on to strategies we can use to help support us when multiplying by larger numbers, including estimation, using models, using Base 10 blocks, and using patterns. To further support us with our “long” multiplication, we will also keep practicing our Multiplication Boot Camp math facts. Students have received flashcards to practice - thank you for your support with this!
- Social Studies: Continuing our Vikings unit, we will be taking a closer look at the Vikings today and then zooming in even further to hear about one of their more prominent explorers, Leif Erikson.
- Science: The students seemed to really enjoy our unit project last week all about Rube Goldberg machines! This week in Science we will be having a review class on Wednesday to go-over everything we have learned as well as to prepare a review sheet so we are ready for our Science Test this Friday, November 29.
- ELA: Reading Ninjas are due next week - keep up the good work reading!
- In Reading this week, we the Lord willing will be finishing our novel Owls in the Family and finishing up a unit project to review what happened in the novel and demonstrate our knowledge of plot. Then we will have a review class on Friday to help us review for our test next week. In Writing, we will be writing another personal narrative paragraph, this week with the topic: A Day in the Life.
- Music (NS): We are working on “Sing We Now of Christmas” on the recorders! We are also reviewing songs for the Christmas program. Students are welcome to show Ms. Snyder their Recorder Karate skills on Mondays @ 1 pm in the library. Here are video tutorials and accompaniments if students would like to play along with them!
- P.E: Moving on to our next unit this week, we will be having our first couple classes to practice dribbling, passing, and shooting in Basketball!
Grade 5 - Mrs. VanSpronsen & Mrs. Vanrhee
- We had a great time at the Cannery. We learned all about discrimination, jobs on the canning line, and the fishing industry. New this year, there was a LEGO replica of the Cannery which was really cool to see. We also had the opportunity to enjoy some time outside. It was a wonderful way to spend the day. Special thanks to Mr. John Scholtens and Katie Vandergaag for driving us there and back safely.

- Music (NS): We are working on our Christmas Program songs on the ukulele: Noel, Sing We the Song of Emmanual (the Gloria).
Grade 6A - Ms. Krikke
- We are in our final week of preparations before play week! Please ensure your child has their costume by Friday. They do not need to bring it in this week, but they do need to have it at home ready for next week. All play lines, song lyrics, and choreography should be memorized by the end of the week! Keep an eye out for an email with final details on Monday (Dec 2nd) about performance night.
- Memory Work: We’re taking a break from memory work until the musical is done.
- Bible: We are reading through Genesis 41-43 studying Joseph and working on our Dream Booklets.
- Drama: All lines and songs need to be memorized by Friday. Costumes are “due” on Friday - please ensure your child has their costume! Thursday is one week until showtime!
- Math (DJ): We have begun our next unit: Graphing! We will be looking at various types of graphs and how to read and create them.
- Science (KN): We are wrapping up our Endocrine system unit. Review tomorrow and quiz on Thursday.
- French: We are working on our irregular verbs this week: être, avoir, and faire.
- Art: We are working on part of the set deck this week - picture frames!
- Music (NS): Students need to have their composer rap part memorized by tomorrow, ‘Lullaby’ memorized for Wednesday and the reprise “So Long, Everybody” memorized for Friday.
- PE (SP): The students grew in their volleyball skills! Now, we shift our focus to floor hockey.
Grade 6B - Mrs. Noort & Ms. Snyder
- We are in our final week of preparations before play week! Please ensure your child has their costume by Friday. Grade 7 - Mr. Pruim
- Memory Work: Psalm 111:1 due for Friday, November 29.
- Bible: This week we will see how God brings Saul low while raising David as the next king.
- English: A Wrinkle in Time continues to be the focus. This week will include a check in quiz on book comprehension as well as vocabulary words. We will also be reading chapters 7-9.
- Math: We are adding and subtracting fractions! This is the last topic before review and a test on Friday, November 29.
- Socials: The Ancient Civilizations groups are researching religion and creating an ABC book to share what they learn.
- Art: Creative colour wheels continue.
- ADST: Persuasive Advertisements for Market Day. These are due for Friday, November 29. Please check-in that progress on production is occurring if that is necessary. Market Day is quickly approaching!

- Bible: Both booklets on Luke 10 - 19 are due tomorrow. We will start our study of Jesus last week (Luke 20 - 24) tomorrow.
- English (NK): Plot Diagrams have been handed in. This week we dive into reading some short stories!
- Math: Continuing our study of the Pythagorean Theorem this week.
- Science: Continuing our study of the Immune System. Students will be creating a comic about the cycle of a virus - Due Wednesday.
- Socials (KN): Feudal System stations should be completed now, and are expected to be handed in today. We are moving on to look at Crime and Punishment, and Religion, in the Middle Ages.
- ADST: Market Day is fast approaching! Just under 3 weeks away! Hopefully the production of their products is running smoothly! In school students are working on their Ads. Due this Friday, November 29.
- Art: Continuing our work on our masks. Most of us have completed the paper mache stage and will be moving on to painting and adding other details.
- Music (NS): We’re going to start learning some Christmas music!
