Pleasant Valley Family Newsletter
October 31, 2024
Hello PV Families,
Our week was filled with many great events! We started with our 5th-grade rocket launch after a presentation by engineers and guest speakers. Thank you, Mrs. Brennan, for organizing this inspiring learning experience for our 5th graders!
During our Kindness focus month, students received yellow kindness hearts, which we’re placing around the school with the goal of surrounding the building in a “gold heart” of kindness. We concluded the month by celebrating our Kindness Students of the Month from each class and special area. We held a mini celebration, presented certificates to our awardees, and officially charged them as the Kindness Ambassadors of PV. A big thank you to Mrs. Trudeau for planning and organizing this event!
Next month, we’ll focus on our next Core Value: RESPECT. PV’s dog, Eli, has extended his weekly time with us, starting his first 30 minutes with our SAILS program (see pictures below). Our Kindness Students of the Month also enjoyed a special treat with Eli.
During class visits this week, we saw our students deeply engaged in class discussions, whole-class and partner reading, grappling with math problems, and working in independent and small group sessions.
A gentle reminder for parents to log in to the Readathon site to help their children claim their prizes—the site closes on Monday, Nov. 4th. Our top three classrooms for highest reading minutes will receive a pizza, popcorn, and donut party, respectively. The top five readers and top five fundraisers will receive Scholastic Bucks to shop for more books!
Our next big event is Bingo Night on Nov. 8th at TEMS—please see the flyer below. We’re looking forward to a night of fun and fundraising for our 5th graders, the Class of 2032! Our next PTO meeting will be on Wednesday, Nov. 6th, at 7:30.
Happy 3-Day Weekend. And to all who celebrate...Happy Diwali! Happy Halloween!
Sincerely,
Esther and Jenna
