Mustang Minute 4/18/25
Happy Friday Morse!
I hope everyone is able to enjoy some extra time with your Mustang this weekend. Wishing a joyful Happy Easter and Happy Passover to all who celebrate!
As we head into this busy spring season, we’re beginning MSTEP testing for our 3rd through 5th grade students starting Monday. Testing will take place on and off over the next few weeks, with our final scheduled day on May 7th.
To help your child feel prepared:
Please ensure their iPad is fully charged each day and brought to school.
If your child prefers to use their own wired headphones, they’re welcome to bring them. We do have classroom sets available as well.
Encourage your child to do their best—these tests aren't graded, but they provide us with valuable insight. While we don’t want students to feel stressed, it’s important they try their best, especially since these scores are one of the few data points visible to the public.
As Autism Acceptance Month continues, we will celebrate with spirit days across the district. You can find the flyer with daily themes linked below.
We’ll close out the week with our Autism Acceptance Walk on the Morse track this Friday, from 9:45–11:45 AM. If you'd like to attend, please:
Reach out to your child’s teacher later this week to find out their class's time slot.
Check in at the front office for a visitor sticker before heading out to the track.

Anxious Generation Book Study
As some of you may remember, a group of Morse teachers and parents joined me in reading The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt. As a district that went 1:1 with student devices during the pandemic, we’re continuing to reflect on and learn about the impact of technology—especially social media—on our children.
This book offers eye-opening insights into the risks of overexposure to digital technology (especially social media), and I highly recommend it to all parents. I understand time is tight, so I’ve created a short video overview and included helpful links below. One of those is a community survey—we’d love your input as we work to better understand our community’s perspectives on technology and social media use in our children’s lives. The video, ppt, Padlet notes, and survey are linked below.
Upcoming Important Events:
Mon 4/21 TSD Art Show Reception 5:30-7:00
Mon 4/21 MSTEP Testing begins
Mon 4/21 Autism Acceptance Month Spirit Week
Fri 4/25 Autism Acceptance Walk
As always, if you have any questions regarding your child or the school, please let me know.
Have a great weekend!
