School Begins TUESDAY, July 30.

Each Sunday during instructional weeks all principals in Lodi USD send out weekly SMORE newsletters.

I'm including this one, July 21, to help us get ready. I'll also send one on July 28 as we prepare for the first day of school. Then every Sunday at 6pm for here on out!

Our Cubs staff is excited to welcome you to a new school year! Welcome to our new Cubs, whether you are in TK or K, or new to the neighborhood, or overflowed to us awaiting a spot at your home school. We wish a solid beginning for each of you!

My name is Mr. Coughlin, principal of Ansel Adams, beginning my 8th year as a proud Cub! I've been a teacher, instructional coach, or administrator in Lodi Unified for 26 years. All four of my children attended Lodi Unified schools. I'm proud of our school and our district!

Our vice-principal, Ms. Phan, returns to us for her 2nd year. After years of administration in a previous district, we are lucky to have her return to Ansel Adams. Her children also attended Lodi Unified schools.

Let's start with critical information:

1. Parents can log on to Aeries Parent Portal to complete their data confirmation. This is a critical step for a number of reasons. After you complete it, you will be able to see your child's teacher. This process needs to be completed individually for each child in Lodi Unified. 3 children = 3 data confirmations.

Lodi USD allowed parents to complete this as early as July 19. However, some roster changes are still taking place so if you could wait until near the 23rd we promise to have everything complete and correct.

2. Now that teachers have their rosters, they will send home a welcome email to you with an introduction and any specific important information.

Parents, especially new to Ansel Adams, are encouraged to attend the 5:30 meeting in the cafeteria to be introduced to all of our teachers, meet the principal and vice-principal, and hear school-wide critical information.

Classroom presentations are at 6pm and repeated at 6:30. This is a critical time for parents to meet their child's teacher and familiarize yourself with the classroom expectations and procedures.

This evening is intended for adults only. Their will be some playground supervision for school-aged children, but children really are intended to stay home.
