About Mrs. Harvey
My name is Mrs. Harvey and I'm excited to be your teacher this year! This is my first year at MNVA, but it is my ninth year teaching Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS) Education. I am currently teaching Culinary Arts, Hospitality & Tourism, Life Skills, and Nutrition & Wellness for Fall Semester here at MNVA!
Over the years, I have taught Culinary Arts, Food & Nutrition, Baking & Pastry, Independent Living, Interior Design, Child Development, Career Planning & Skill Development, Life Skills: Navigating Adulthood, and Family Health. I truly love teaching Family & Consumer Sciences Education because I believe students can relate to it and they know that it is helpful for every aspect of their lives-personal, family and career!
A little about me personally~ I was born and raised in Washington State (in the beautiful Pacific Northwest) and still live here actually! I have been married for 16 years, and we have three boys, ages, 14, 12, and 3-years-old. My kids keep me very busy with their sports (football and baseball) games and school-related events. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, reading a good book or watching a good show, drinking coffee, cooking/baking, exercising, and hanging out with my family.
Well, that is me in a nut shell-I am excited to get-to-know you all as well and to have a great semester!

Fall 2024 Class Unit Dates
Each class has units of study that have a start date, an end date, and an official close date. The class units officially close two weeks after the unit ends.
During those two weeks, students have the opportunity to turn in any missing assignments or revise any assignments from that unit to try an earn a better grade. After the unit officially closes, students cannot turn in or revise assignments for a grade.
Please pay attention to the student planner/due dates in our classroom D2L and weekly agenda.
The unit dates for each class can be found below.
Mrs. Harvey's Helpful Tips!
Log in everyday to D2L K12 content and click on your planner, a lesson or an assignment and read the weekly calendar-this counts as your attendance!
Read the weekly calendar under Announcements, to know what lesson we’re learning and what assignment is due.
Only use the Google doc assignment links that are listed in the weekly calendar! Do not use D2L’s assignment instructions after the content reading. They are not very organized or specific. Use the Google doc links or you may lose points!
Attend all of the live Class Connects, if possible. It’s extremely important in order to stay on track, ask questions and get help, if needed.
Complete all of the required content chapter readings and familiarize yourself with the content and assignments before attending Class Connect, so you can ask questions or participate in class activities.
Watch all You tube video links that are posted in the “Helpful Links” section of the weekly calendar under Announcements. These are extra videos that are there to help you to understand the lesson/content.
Complete all of the assignments within the time frame that the specific unit is open. Units officially close two weeks after the unit ends. After that, you cannot submit assignments for a grade.
Check comment feedback on your assignment submissions. A lot of times I will leave feedback on how you can revise an assignment to improve your score.
Check your MNVA school email account every day. When sending an email, please be professional with a greeting, state which class you are in, and be specific with your question or concern, and end your email with a thank you and your first and last name.
Most importantly, if you are struggling with any of the lessons/assignments, please reach out to me! I am here to help you and want to see you succeed in my class, but you need to ask for clarification or help.
Practice the following characteristics below when you attend live Class Connects, when speaking to me directly, sending me an email or phone call, and completing assignments, as they will help you in your success!
