Dallas County Promise (last-dollar tuition grant)
The Mac Counseling team met with all seniors to complete the Dallas County Promise Path.
Note: In completing the Promise Path, all information needs to match your government ID card.
The Dallas County Promise tuition grant is now open and available for seniors at participating high schools. Dallas County Promise is a last-dollar grant that covers tuition, which is the cost of classes, at participating 2-year and 4-year colleges. The program offers dedicated student supports for 2024 graduating seniors with options of all Texas residents.
To become eligible to receive the Promise tuition grant, graduating students need to complete four steps:
Promise Path: Students need to complete the Dallas Promise Path form by February 1st. The Promise form is a 20-minute survey that asks students what they might be interested in when they graduate high school. Completing the survey opens up access to student supports, messaging, and information throughout the school year.
Apply to a Partner School: Students need to apply to and be accepted into a Promise Partner college or university. The deadlines and family income requirements vary per school. By applying to a Promise partner school, students are not required to attend that institution, but if they meet eligibility requirements, they might receive the Promise tuition grant.
Financial Aid Completion: Students must complete the FAFSA or TASFA by specific deadlines. These vary depending on the institution. Additionally when completing FAFSA or TASFA, students must list the Promise partner college or university to receive their financial aid information.
Enroll in a Promise-eligible School: Students must enroll in the Promise partner college or university where they are eligible to receive the Promise tuition grant.
Students are not required to attend a Promise partner college or university, but they must be eligible for and enroll in a Promise partner institution to receive the tuition grant.
