TEAM SUCCESS NEWSLETTER
September 2024
INTRODUCTION
Dear Parent/Guardian,
The first few weeks of school just flew by. This newsletter is for both campuses, North Campus (K-5th grade) and South Campus (6th-12th grade). Please read this newsletter in its entirety as it contains important information and dates for all students.
We are settling in nicely into the routine of the new school year. The first round of the statewide progress monitoring (PM) testing, the FAST PM1 tests for ELA in grades K-10 and math in grades K-8 have been happening. The dates are on our school calendar on the website and in this newsletter. Please make sure your student is in school and ready to do their best!
As always, please feel free to reach out to your child's teachers and to our school staff and administrators in the two offices with any questions or concerns:
North Campus (K-5). Phone: (941)714-7260.
South Campus (6-12). Phone: (941)444-4333.
Thank you for being a part of our Team Success family!
FAST TESTING 2024
The Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) is a progress tracking tool that will be administered three times a year to track your student's progress in learning the Benchmarks of Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) standards throughout this school year.
All students in grades K to 10 will be tested in reading; all students in grades K-8 will be tested in math. FAST assessments are computer adaptive tests that are taken on a computer. The questions get easier or harder depending on how the student answers, and each student will see different questions.
The first administration of the FAST tests is in August for K-2 ELA and math, and in September for 3-10 ELA and 3-8 math. The second FAST test will be given in January and the third one will be in May. For specific dates, please check the calendar on the school website and see dates below.
Parents will have access to student results through Focus, starting a couple of weeks after each exam.
For more information about Florida's state assessment program, visit the portal at https://flfast.org/.
Thank you for supporting your student and encouraging them to do their best during these assessments.

NORTH CAMPUS NEWS (K-5th grade)
The elementary students in grades K-5th have settled into their new grade levels. They are enjoying the campus without the older students and making it their own. Last month, we had student orientations and discussed some of the changes for this school year.
We are excited to announce that the mascot for the elementary school (K-5) will be the otter! We have been weaving otters into the culture of the school by establishing an acronym to utilize daily.
O- Our
T- Time
T- To
E- Exhibit
R- Resilience, Respect and Responsibility
The elementary students have fully embraced the mascot and are outstanding otters every day!
This week we will be voting as a school on the name for the otter, stay tuned!

· Whether the teacher met state qualifications and certification requirements for the grade level and subject he/she is teaching,
· Whether the teacher received an emergency or conditional certificate through which state qualifications were waived,
· What undergraduate or graduate degrees the teacher holds, including graduate certificates and additional degrees, and major(s) or area(s) of concentration, and
· Whether your child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.
Parents also have the right to know their child’s achievement level on the state assessments.
If you would like to receive any of this information, please contact Nicole Howe at (941)714-7260 or nhowe@teamsuccessschools.com.

OUT OF FIELD TEACHERS
All Educators in Florida are monitored to ensure they meet certification and training requirements as mandated by law. Per Florida Statute 1012.42, when a teacher is assigned teaching duties out of the field in which the teacher is certified, the parents of all students in the class shall be notified in writing.
Team Success is committed to providing quality instruction for all students and does so by employing the most qualified individuals to teach and support each student in the classroom. All of our teachers are certified to teach, although some of them are currently out-of-field and are working on additional areas of certification. You have the right to know the professional qualifications of the teachers who instruct your child. Federal law allows you to ask for certain information about your child’s teachers and requires us to give you this information in a timely manner if you ask for it. If you would like more information, please contact your school at (941)714-7260 for K-5th grade or at (941)444-4333 for 6th -12th grade.
The table below lists teachers who are currently out-of-field.
AMERICAN FOUNDERS MONTH
Celebrate Freedom this September!
On September 17, the United States also celebrates Constitution Day, which focuses on the Constitution itself. Join us in learning more about the Constitution, and how everyone in the United States is part of "We the People," by watching and discussing the short video below with your student.
During this month we also commemorate Celebrate Freedom Week, which this year is on the last week of the month, September 26 to September 30. The main focus of Celebrate Freedom Week is understanding and appreciating the Declaration of Independence, a foundational document of the United States.
