Greetings Washington Families,
Thank you to everyone who came out to the PTA Fall Carnival! It was such a fun evening, and your participation helped support our Shining Star Fundraiser. We also ask that you please take a moment to respond to the poll this morning on Talking Points to help us track family engagement and participation.
A quick reminder to our 5th-grade parentsâdonât forget about the virtual information session TONIGHT, Monday, October 21st at 6:30 PM to learn about applying for magnet middle schools. It's a great opportunity to get all the information you need to continue your child's GT pathway.
This Friday, October 25th, is FIVE DOLLAR FRIDAY! PTA is asking each student to bring in $5 for our Shining Star Fundraiser, and the grade level with the highest participation will win an ICE CREAM PARTY! Please send the $5 with your child on Friday, and teachers will collect it in an envelope for PTA.

Meet Ms. Forrest!
Bio: Hello! My name is Emily Forrest and I am proud to be a Washington Wizard! I grew up in Libertyville, Illinois and attended Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana where I received my degree in education and found my passion for teaching. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy tap dancing, reading, and doing puzzles whenever I have free time. This is my fourth year teaching 5th grade and Iâm so excited to continue my journey shaping young minds at Washington!

đľOCTOBER 25th IS FIVE DOLLAR FRIDAY!
THIS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25th is Five Dollar Friday! PTA is asking each student to bring five dollars on Friday only. Each classroom teacher will put the $5 in an envelope. The grade level with the highest percentage of participation will win an ICE CREAM PARTY!
Want to donate more than $5?
Donating is easy! Students can bring their donation to school in an envelope or baggie with their name on it and grown ups can contribute online or send cash/check (made out to Washington GT PTA) to school.
ANY AMOUNT MAKES A DIFFERENCE. Donât forget to check if your company will match. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at wesgtpta@gmail.com. 100% of your donation goes directly back into school programs and needs.

Join us for a **virtual information session** TONIGHT, Monday, October 21 at 6:30pm to learn about applying for magnet middle schools. Magnet students must apply for a seat at a magnet middle school to continue on their GT pathway. This is a great opportunity to get all the details and ask any questions you may have about the application process. We hope to see you there!

đCalling All 5th Graders- Yearbook Cover Contest!
We need YOU to design the cover for our 2024-25 Yearbook! Read below for the guidelines:
- This is a contest for students in 5th grade.
- Cover is front page only 8.5 inches x 11 inches.
- Can use pencil, paint, chalk, crayon, digital or other art medium.
- Cover must include out school name "WashinGTon Magnet Elementary" and "2024-2025."
- Cover theme should represent "Gifted & Talented" and/or "Reach for the Stars"
- Must be original art. No copies or duplication. Be creative!
- Ensure your name and homeroom teacher is on the BACK of the cover.
Covers should be submitted to the front office by October 25th.
Covers will be displayed in the Media Center and voted on by all grades. YOU could be the next WizKid yearbook cover creator! **Brought to you by WES PTA**

â¨Shining Star Fundraiser Updateâ¨
Weâre excited to share that weâve met our first milestone in the Shining Star Fundraiserâthanks to your generosity, we've raised $6,541 so far! As promised, Ms. Burnette will be sporting blue hair this week, along with Mr. Gresham and maybe even a few students! Letâs keep the momentum going and continue to *REACH FOR THE STARS*! Our goal is to raise $24,000 to support our students and school programs, and every donation, big or small, brings us closer. Thank you for your incredible supportâletâs keep shining together!
The Book Fair is here! Our online book fair is officially open and runs through Friday, November 22. You can shop online anytime, but this special online event is happening NOW! The in-person book fair will be held in the Media Center from November 18-22, with a special evening shopping session during International Night on November 21 from 6:00-7:30pm. Donât miss this great opportunity to support our school and discover new books for the whole family!

Enloe Charity Ball's Trunk or Treat Event â October 29th!
Washington families are invited to join the fun and support a great cause at Enloe Charity Ball's Trunk or Treat event on Tuesday, October 29th, from 4:00-6:00 PM at Enloe High School. This event is free to attend, but a suggested donation of $5 per family is encouraged to help raise funds for Enloe Charity Ball and their beneficiary, Neighbor 2 Neighbor. Parking will be off Bertie Drive, with the Trunk or Treat activities taking place in the stadium parking lot. As a feeder school for Enloe, it would be great to see our Washington Wizards come out to enjoy the festivities while supporting a great cause!
